So I have had a lot of people suggest I create a build thread so here goes.
Bought this little truck new in 1997 and had to wait for it to come in with the v6 option in the reg cab in white with 5 speed. Paid around 16,000 plus 2500.00 for the supercharger, was an expensive truck back in 1997.
My first car was a jeep cj5 with a chev 350 when I was 16, that's where it started.
I have had two 1970 and 1971 240z Datsun, 1963 corvette spit window, 1965 Porsche speedster, 1986 porche 944 turbo, Audi A4 turbo, and two chey Tahoe,
    And a 1969 jaguar 2 seater XKE.
The most fun and reliable of all those cars is the Tacoma, a truck you can drive the wheels off
with little repairs and a ton of power with the supercharger.
    1997 Tacoma, SX package, v6, 4x4

The reg cab with a 3.4 v6 was made in 1995.5-1997 in the 4x4 verson. In 1997 they upgraded the ECU and that’s when the TRD supercharger was first made, so the trd supercharger was only available for the reg cab for that year in 1997 only,
1998 forward the v6 was not available anymore in the reg cab. The ECU does not work with the supercharger for the 1995.5-1996 v6 years. So there are very few v6 3.4 trucks with a trd supercharger in the reg cab design that are original.

A rare truck in the v6 reg cab with a supercharger with 10 pounds of boost with methanol injection, around 300hp crank.

    EDIT: UPDATE 9-20-2020
Now 300 Hp and 325 torque at 12 pounds of boost at the rear wheel.
My boost varies from 10-12 pounds depending on heat, weather, summer or winter. Typical it’s at 11-11.5

Rear wheel Dyno shows 270 torque 245 hp with 9.80 pounds of boost at 6000 feet,
At sea leave the boost and hp and torque might be higher.

    (Update 1-1-2020
Boost is at 11 pounds, rear wheel hp is 275 and torque 285 with methonal, 2” pulley and ported supercharger.
Boost fluctuates between 11-12 pounds depending on weather, temperature, humidity.) at 6000 feet.

If you have ping issues, look into a methanol injection kit, might be your answer!!
(Methanol kit will lower supercharger temps 100 degrees,
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/show-me-your-water-meth-setups-on-the-5vz-fe.481407/
Will add octane to 115, will correct the AFR lean out from pinging,
Can run a smaller pulley without pining or lean out,
No need to install high flow fuel pump or larger injectors or an intercooler,
Also you get a steam cleared Intake to eliminate carbon build up,
Lowers supercharger temps by 100 degrees, means longer supercharger life for bearings and nose seal that fail because of high temps, each one pound of boost
adds 10 degrees to the supercharger, so this is a perfect solution, no heat soaked supercharger anymore)
Wish I had done this upgrade years ago @6000 feet

a weight of only 3300 pounds
Truck has original paint except the hood because of the scoop
Truck has all original running gear except engine
    Never been in an accident
    Colorado Truck,
So what I have and have done is as follows.
Original motor was supercharged its whole life for 489,000 miles till it had head gasket issues.
Was cheaper to replace the old motor with a low mileage newer motor than to fix cracked head and gaskets.
Replaced original motor with a 2004 motor that had around 100,000 miles
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...89-000-miles-repair-or-replace-engine.397363/
Replaced every outside seal, from main seals to valve covers gaskets etc and bearings for timing belt and water pump relateted items and knock sensors and harness, all clutch parts before installing the newer engine.
Added grey TRD supercharger in 1998, rebuild it each 150,000 miles, now has 600,000 miles on original supercharger

Installed new supercharger into new truck in 1998
Grey supercharger 1st gen with 550,000 on supercharger
Added butt screw on top of snout so oil can be changed in 5 minutes WITHOUT removing the supercharger.
Oil change every 40,000 miles now.
Complete rebuild every 150,000, includes new rotor pack plate, recoating rotors, double lip rear seals, high temp double lip nose seal.
Running at 6000 to 12,000 feet.
With 2.2 or 2.1 pulley slight to no ping issues at 7.5 pounds of boost with 2.1.
With 2" pulley 10 pounds of booost there definitely pinging so added
Snow methanol kit stage II progressive using the one gallon wiper reservoir that eliminated the ping.
2" pulley engine needs methonal spray to come on at 4.5 pounds of boost up for me
Methonal nozzel size is a number 1, and I get about 1500 miles per gallon, with perfect AFR.
Number one nozzel tends to plug up after 10,000 miles because it's so small. Easy to just replace it with a new one at 15.00 and cooling is not a great as the number 2 nozzel.
Number 2 nozzel definitely sprays more and a big difference in supercharger temps, cooling effects
I can place my hand on the supercharger without it being too hot even after a hard run.
So I run the number 1 nozzel for winter and number 2 nozzel for summer heat.
Number 2 nozzel gets about 400-600 miles per gallon depending on driving. System uses methonal
after 4.5 pounds of boost only.
If you run out of methanol it's no issues driving it under the boost level of 4.5. Using windshield fluid that's 20 negative if needed is ok, but is not distilled water,
Using a #2 nozzel is best.

I would suggest inspecting the nozzel if it's a number 1 size and or cleaning it each 10,000 miles, takes 5 minutes to do.
The methonal system works fantastic for me but is higher maintenance, it addresses the issues of heat soaked supercharger and because there is no intercooler for these superchargers It definitely can reduce temps 100 degrees.
Remember each added pound of boost adds 10 degrees of heat!
My power gains are pretty consistent regardless of the outside temperature now.

If I don't want to deal with using the methonal kit for what ever reason maybe
across country trip or whatever I always have the option of just putting the 2.1 pulley back on as I have no ping issues with the 2.1 or 2.2 pulley at 6000-12000 feet.

Every engine 3,4 responds differently to ping and definitely to this setup so this is
what works perfectly for me with zero issues at 6000 feet up to 12,000 in Colorado.
Your results my be different. Some people will have to go the 7th injection route, some will need to replace the fuel pump. But only the methanol kit can lower supercharger temperatures by 100 degrees.
    Please note,
There are some 3.4 motors that ping a lot and some that don't ping at all or very little under the exact same setups and altitude. No one knows why this is.
I'm lucky and I have an engine that doesn't like ping, my 1997 motor did ping
abit while the replacement 2004 motor doesn't ping.
    Stock ECU
    No piggy back
    No fuel mod
2004 injectors, abit larger than 1997
    KN airfilter
    Elbow mod
2" steel pulley, not soft aluminum
URD pulleys are made of soft aluminum and will wear and start slipping around 25,000 miles and will need to be replaced. What happens is the center ribs wear down and loose grip and the belt then rides on the sides of the pulley ears and slip on high load. URD uses a protective coating but will only last a short time.
    High temp nose seal
    DENSO IK22 5310 plugs
    Pillar boost guage
Methonal green light indicator, lights when pump is spraying at 4.5 pounds and up next to boost guage
Methonal low level light sensor next to boost guage

TRUCK is where I want it to be as a daily driver for now!!! I think, haha not really :)

To much, lol, 800.00 for seats plus 210.00 for track sliders plus 75.00 for shipping, after 500,000 miles
bouncing and sliding in the 4 runner seats I decided it was time. Now the interior smells new because of the new seat, :) and these seat fit like a glove and recline,
Took an hour to do the swap with these LG1

So oil change at the dealer
They are prolly using conventional oil! So what's the hype about synthetics then lol. I mean aside from the extended oil change intervals

I've never used synthetic oil for the engine, synthetic oil you change at 5,000 miles as you know, the oil they use at my dealership seems to work just fine.
Old engine even at 489,000 never consumed any oil, just fell to the head gasket issues.

Do you know which part#'s you used for the Corbeau slider brackets? I am only showing brackets on their site for the bench seats or the 60/40 split. But my '96 came with buckets like your '97.

Awesome thanks! I just figured out the factory mounting locations are the same for the buckets and the 60/40. Bench is different.

Perfect, what seats are you think of getting? Whatever it's worth I would highly recommend test driving whatever seat you're thinking of buying, I was originally going with the GTS II until I sat in the LG1 seats,
