Also on a different note, i need a new tailgate and hood and have a lead on both off a 2002 Tacoma. I know its in the same generation but with the redesign will i have any issues putting these on my 97? I know for the hood I would have to swap the grill over as well if its possible?

RE: "on a different note" you might want to consider posting those questions as a separate new thread in order to better your chances of getting answer(s).

So exactly where is the IAC valve you are all mentioning?

directly under the throttle body - I don't recall exact terminology for the part I'm referring to -(edit: duh, throttle plate?) - but it looks like a (vertically mounted), oversized version of the (horizontally mounted) "butterfly valve" on an old-school carburetor. This round 'door' (valve) rotates to control the volume of air entering the intake manifold (air plenum) from the air tube that connects the air filter/box to the intake manifold (plenum). Under this round door/ (valve), at the bottom of the tube, is a fairly small hole that opens into the IAC. When cleaning the throttle body it's a good idea to block this hole w/some shop towels to prevent the cleaner (now full of liquified gunk) from draining into the IAC. The importance of blocking the hole cannot be overstated- once that crap collects down there the only way to clear it is to remove the IAC and hope manual cleaning will suffice. Best to keep the gunk from draining into it in the first place.

If you are cleaning the throttle body don't forget to get the back side of the plate- it's usually quite a bit nastier than the rest of the t.b.

Not at all...the more info the better.

Doesn’t leave anything to doubt that way!

I removed the part and cleaned the valve. Runs better, sometimes the idle is okay, other times it is still high.

Thinking about cleaning it again. It was VERY dirty with carbon
