1997 V6 Tacoma no crank no start

Just completed the jumper wire test. As soon as the neg cable was reconnected on the battery, the starter came to life. So I know the starter and solenoid are fine. The jumper wire worked both from the + of the battery and also from the white wire after the fuse panel. The issue I have is that as soon as I touch the solenoid wire to the battery, it activates the solenoid, even if the key is NOT in the ignition. Where is that wire "turned on and off" so that it only sends a signal to the solenoid when you turn the key? Isn't this sounding like ignition switch ?

 

Problem Solved. In the end, it was the clutch switch. I took it off and tested it for continuity, which it initially failed, then the more I depressed it, I would sometimes get continuity, then I sprayed it with elec cleaner, then pressed it about 200 times. Finally got continuity EVERY time. Put it back in and away I went. There was a LOT of wasted time, but I eventually got this fixed and learned something along the way. Thanks to the folks who offered help back in the fall. Appreciate all your suggestions.
