looking at your short term trims leads me to believe that you dont have a vacuum leak but as suggested a worn throttle body.

    I Agree with Glamisman.
You pinch of brake booster hose as one last thing to check for a vacuum leak.

Well used 1999 Tacoma TRD quickly approaching 300,000 miles
3" Bilstein Lift, OME Medium Springs, sweet Bluetooth stereo, Mostly just replacing worn out parts.
I just replaced my throttle body, 99, 3.4, manual, cruise control, 282,000 miles. It was idling close to ~1900 rpm cold, would drop down to ~1100 rpm once warm, occasionally throw a check engine light as well. Old throttle body didn't look worn based on all the advice I found, but I installed the new one today and rpms are down to normal and throttle response is sooo much better.

Thanks I took it back apart and backed out the stops so only the dash pot was holding it. The first pic with the most light is it holding it open. When I press it closed there is light all the way around the camera doesn't show well. Going to send to maxbore either way if it is supposed to be air tight. Thanks for the advice.

Just wanted to give everyone an update. Got my throttle body back from Maxbore this week and put it on. Made a world of difference that guy does great work and the turnaround was amazing. Thanks again SLAPS 65. On startup idle was immediately lower. It is right around 850 now. There is some play in the TPS, if I loosen the screws and twist it up or down. At idle the position reads anywhere from 7.4 to 9.4 with the little bit of twist I can put on it. Is there a specific number I should be looking for? Will the ECU learn after a few drive cycles?

there seems to be different points of view on resetting the TPS. Some say drive it, others say to turn the key on for 10 seconds, turn it off, turn the key on again for 10 seconds, turn if off for 10 minutes and you are good to go.
