Welcome to Tacomaworld and congratulations on your truck! You should post some pics of your truck too.

Baja is long travel heaven! But LT has it's drawbacks...cost and maintanance.

I'm going down there from November 10-26 to spectate the Baja 1000. My 1st trip in 2015 I broke two bilstien shocks. When I came back I upgrade to full OME. If I had the money I'd do something like Kings all around. Anyway, the OME has served me well. Last year we did 800 miles of dirt following the 2016 Baja 1000 course. LT would work better but the OME just works.

Also, you'll need something to carry extra fluids. You'll want to carry at least several cases of beer and at least 10 gallons of fuel and a lot of tequila to kill the bacteria from eating all the tacos you're gonna eat. I have a 19 gallon aux fuel tank and can carry 35 total gallons of gas...it works very well. I personally hate getting ice so I have a 12v fridge on a slide on my sleeping platform in the back..it' holds a lot of beer.

Like it's been said above...lots of lights. It's best to avoid driving in Mexico at night but sometimes that can't be helped. You can drive with a light bar on all the time in baja...no one gives a shit. I run a 42" light bar on the roof and 55 watt Warn HID's on the front bumper. I also have 2 aux back up lights that also function as dust lights.

The last two trips I've done I've been the only 4 wheeled vehicle. My buddies bring motos. I ride too so we rotate on the bikes. Being I'm the only truck I carry 2 spare tires along with a CO2 system, back up compressor, patch kit and the knowlegde of how to use the patch kit.

You should have a good first aid kit, a good fire extinguisher in every vehicle and a means of long distance communication. We bring Ham and a In Reach.

    That is my $.02.
