Interesting how they shipped it on the frame like that, any idea what vehicle it came out of? Why did you chose that specific Cummins, or a Cummins in general as opposed to the Hilux equivalent which was the 165HP 1KD-FTV or the 1KZT-E? These guys do diesel conversions (for waaayyyyy too much) http://dieseltoys.com/tacoma-diesel-conversions

Everything is illegal in this state, I swear. Did you know it's against the law in California to have "exposed" foglights?

    Auxiliary Lamps: Off-Highway Use

24411. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a vehicle may be equipped with not more than eight lamps for use as headlamps while the vehicle is operated or driven off the highway. The lamps shall be mounted at a height of not less than 16 inches from the ground, or more than 12 inches above the top of the passenger compartment, at any place between the front of the vehicle and a line lying on a point 40 inches to the rear of the seat occupied by the driver, shall be wired independently of all other lighting circuits, and, whenever the vehicle is operated or driven upon a highway, shall be covered or hooded with an opaque hood or cover, and turned off.

This engine came out of an old bread/ shipping truck. They just cut out the engine package and shipped it. Even had the front leaf springs from the truck still attached to the frame. It’s just the easiest way to remove it complete from the truck and still runnable.

I chose this engine for a lot of reasons because I couldn’t stuff a 5.9L into this truck and I have a bunch of parts laying around that I can use with it. Along with the fact that this is a very simple engine I’m very familiar with and can produce significant amounts of hp and trq out of.

All in all I really just picked this because I couldn’t get any bigger one in there, it’s very different and most of all. Just cause I could.

Got the steering swapped over and box mounted even tho it’s not a rebuilt box as of yet. Got the drag link racked up and mounted along with starting to figure out where to mount the pan hard.

    Looking good...
The panhard bar appears close to the pan, or is it an illusion?

... agreed. It just appears close to me.

It is very close about an inch really, but this is at complete compression and will never be this close due to the fox bump stops.

Nope. Going to stick with the 98 front end.
Going to convert the headlights to projectors. If I convert the front to anything else it’ll be a 01-04. But I like the 98 front.

'98-'00 headlights are the easiest to retrofit. They're huge compared to the '95-'97 sealed beam and the '01-'04 oval-ish ones.

4BT will be fun, only take a new injection fuel plate and a boost controller to bring her right up to 300HP, could go more I'm sure haha.

    Itll be awesome.
But booster controller?? And fuel injection plate?
I have a ve pump 4bt so it has no fuel plate. It’s a pin and you get most of your fuel from turning the fuel screw, The fuel pin just controls the ramp.
As for boost controller. This is a fully mechanical engine so the only boost control is the wastegate or blow off valve on the turbo or intake if I go that route.

You can still install a boost controller to control the amount of pressure the wastegate receives so you can boost past it's spring weight. Lets you control it on the fly. I meant fuel ramp, been a while since I got to screw with a 6BT figured the 4BT was almost the same.

Yeah they are pretty much the same but yeah I gotcha. I’m just going to be running an adjustable gate and tune it with that. Keeping it simple till I go twins.

Are you planning on boosting it or anything? The 105 HP Cummins said it has doesn't seem to be much.

They're stock turbo, but it's a diesel, lots of its power is torque haha

Borrowed a buddy’s tires to do alittle mock up. But need to pull the wheels off so I can get them in alittle farther.
Still can’t decide what tires I want to run.
Super swamper TSL, boggers, iroks, or LTB’s.
Going to be 40’s or bigger. Have to be on 17” wheels.
