I bought this baby yesterday, a year after a scammer changed the odometer off a 2003 4x4 Tacoma. Odometer said 132k miles but after I carfaxed it like an idiot AFTER i bought it, i found out it had 300k. I feel like this truck is the payoff of that horrible experience. Everything about this truck is so perfect IMO that I still can’t believe that it’s mine. It’s burgundy, 1998, v6, trd package with 4x4, automatic tranny (manual was preferred but can’t have everything) 143k actual miles(checked Carfax and vin matched engine vin)also came with bfg ko2 and an extra spare ko2. all this for 8 grand. The guy wouldn’t budge any lower but I thought it was a good deal considering people charge 10 grand for the same truck with 200k miles over here. I’m blessed. Any mod idea Tacoma fam?

Quick question, what roof rack is that on your truck?

No sorry i could’ve been more clear. I was talking about my previous truck that was an 03 had over 300k miles but I found that out a week later cuz the odometer looked out of alignment. What he did was take an odometer from a junked 1.5 gen and replaced it with the truck he sold me. I got scanned with odometer fraud and this truck I feel is a payoff to that bad experience

    Time to :transformer: haha

Nice score - long ago I had a 97 in that color - super clean truck man

I'd check basic maintenance first and after that adapt it to your needs with mods:woot:

Haha nice! What do you drive now? Honestly, I still can’t believe that I scored this truck... I just keep staring at it and want to drive it. But man the Carfax was beautiful they did literally all the regular Maintenance and more at the dealership. This truck was babied. Thank
You for the post man. I think first on my list after I drive it for awhile is a 2 inch lift and trd rims.

Good mods imo with bilsteins or old man emu's that suit your flavor of offroading. I daily my 08, my 98 has been a restoration project that is going on 3 years this winter.

I think imma get the old man emu cuz they’re cheaper from what I’ve seen. But sweet man is all your stuff on your page? When do you think you’ll finish your 98?

You know what that’s a good idea too, I could just do some rims or something at the very least. We’ll see! Thanks for looking bud.

Get some beefy tires and call it a day. Focus on changing all the fluids, making sure it's tuned up and running perfect. I wouldn't mess with a 20 year old truck in that kind of shape- there are fewer and fewer of them every year and you have a gem that is aging nicely. A lot of these trucks have gone to high school kids who jack them up on spacers and pastidip the wheels.
