I've searched the forums for this problem and did what I could-fuses, changed headlights, changed relay-to no avail. So, it was time to take it in, as I don't have the time or facilities to do much more on my own. Here is what this particular shop said:
"Tested headlight system and found combination switch and electrical connector burnt. Need to replace connector. $829.09 plus tax. Part is 2-3 days away."
This guy said that one of the parts is not available new, so he would have to build it himself. He wont consider used because, as he says, he 'can't warranty the work'.

I have the name of a Toyota guy who is a relative of a coworker that I will call next, but I thought I would put this out on this forum and see what you guys think.
Thanks for any and all thoughts and comments.

The guy found a symptom, the cause of which he did not identify. He can replace the switch until the cows come in but until the cause is identified and resolved, the problem will reoccur. Maybe not right away, but it will reoccur.

You may want to consider having another mechanic take a look at it.
