So i just recently bought a 1999 Taco. it has been repainted by previous owners. the original color was white. i did know that it was 2.7 4x4. but upon further inspection i noticed it has diff. Locker TRD package. it didnt have the TRD stickers because it has been repainted. i decoded the VIN and it does show it came with the 2.7 from the factory, so no it was not swapped. i have never seen or heard of a 3rz TRD 4x4. anyone here own one? how rare are these?

Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
I recently sold my 99. It was a company truck of mine and I knew the history from the driving off the new dealer lot. It was a 2.7, regular cab with 4x4. It had the SR5 package, tow package, buckets, chrome etc. It had the locker package. It did not have TRD stickers. It was a rare and loved truck. But, I needed a back seat for my fishing buddies. My grandsons.
    I moved to a doublecab.

It was my understanding, that the e-locker did not come with the TRD package for trucks with the 2.7 and automatic. Are you certain it has a locker? Have you crawled under there to actually see the locker actuator? Take a photo and post it.

His is not auto, notice the shifter?

You are correct though, 2.7L Auto TRD did not have the locker, the manuals did.

I stand corrected, didn't notice the shifter.

I was looking at the photo of the engine bay and didn't see the clutch master. They usually stand out. On closer inspection, I can just see the top of it behind the canister.

I own a 2002 3rz 5 speed ext. cab with TRD package(rear locker). You don't see many of these but is a great combination. It also came stock with4.30 gear ratio.
