Just bought a 1999 Tacoma, previous owner hit a deer. I need to replace the radiator and ac condenser. I drained the coolant and it was green. Should I put green coolant back in with the new radiator or clean the cleanse the motor and put Toyota’s original pink?
And need advise and brand for condenser?!

    OEM red or pink.

Red is concentrate, you have to mix 50/50 with water. Pink is premixed, pour out of the bottle.

That is incorrect. Pink and red are different coolant types (different chemistry). Both can be bought concentrated or 50% diluted.

1st gen from factory used red (pink was not invented yet).

Just get a couple of gallons from your friendly Toyota dealer, put 'em in, and call it a day. Not worth all the arguing that you are getting here.

To each there own I would not pay what Toyota Wants for a obsolete radiator .

I like my Copper Brass ones so much easier to fix in the far reaches of the Mall parking lot.

You don`t say auto or manual?

Anymore unless it is a dealer only part I buy from Napa they deliver your condenser question .

Returns are easy with both vendors

Denso Radiator on Rock Auto is good as OEM. I think Harrison made the OEM but I don’t think you can get those still?

drain your block of coolant and flush out with some distilled water. Get all the green stuff out before you do red.

I stand corrected, I got my information from my local Toyota dealer who said that both will work, even though pink wasn't made until 03-04.

At my local dealer, they only sell red as concentrate and pink as pre-mixed.

When draining the block.. do I put the new radiator on, or do it with it off?

Since you have the green stuff in now I would pay extra attention to flushing.
    I would-
-Drain system via bottom of radiator and block at same time
-flush out block a bit by putting water into top radiator hose (disconnect from radiator), will drain out block drain
-close drains and fill whole system with distilled water, drive around for a day or two (optional step)
-drain everything again (block and radiator drains)replace radiator (new hoses too)
    -refill with new red coolant

Edit- if your current radiator is already trashed, I would just flush block by adding water at top water port and letting it drain out of block drain and bottom radiator hose. Ideally you would remove the thermostat too but that may be overkill. You can always run distilled water for a few days after you replace radiator, then drain and refill with coolant mix. I know when I drained my block where previous owner used green, and it had been 5+ years on same coolant, I got scale and grit coming out of block drain. Would be best to avoid moving that junk through your brand new radiator!

Ditto here. I bought my '99 8 years ago, and it had green in it.
I have continued to use green, and no problems with the cooling system.

    Reserected from the dead.
I buy and rebuild Toyota trucks. I've been rebuilding these for 25 years. I never use the red/pink antifreeze from Toyota. My wife's 98 is still using prestone. I'm fine with green.
