1999 Tacoma cruise control issues

    First off I would like to introduce myself I am Jason I got a 1999 Tacoma about four months ago won it in a poker match from my stepdad. Witch was awesome anyways to the issues the car has 220,408 miles all highway the cruise control switch on the steering wheel the button when you press it in the light will come on but will not set I seen some other post about a brake switch but my brakes work can my brake lights still work and the cruise control part of the switch is broken please give me some ideas on what to do I am slowly fixing up this truck it was a work truck the paint is fading and clear coat is peeling but I will get it painted soon the overall mechanical of a truck is very well maintained
