Hey looking for some help I just bought a 99 tacoma with aftermarket grill from previous owner. Interior hood release latch works fine but when I release the hood I can’t reach the release latch under the hood due to the size of the new grill. Any help is appreciated thank you.

If the grill was oversized, I can't see the hood itself closing all the way.

Are you sure it's just the hood that's not "popping up" to move the latch over?

Whenever I popped my hood with the interior latch, I had to physically lift the hood a bit to reach said latch.

What is the method you use to lift the hood a little I don’t want to damage any of the paint thanks for the reply. I was able to open the hood with a 12 inch Philips head one time but could not replicate it again.

Take a picture of your grill.

If it's an issue, just buy a factory-style replacement.

I forget that Tacoma's have the latch between the grill slots.

Ive had a hood that wouldn't pop up after pulling the hood latch in the cabin. Once I finally got the hood opened, I cleaned the hod latch with brake cleaner, and re-greased everything with lithium grease. Never had a problem with the hood sticking again. Worth trying.
