I have a 1999 toyota Tacoma. I recently bought a key fob for it and took it a few places and they couldn’t get it to program. The truck has automatic windows and locks. I was just wondering what the process would be for getting this to work? If I need to purchase anything else too that would be helpful to know. Thanks! Also I don’t think it came with a OEM keyless entry

If your truck didn't come with keyless entry, you cannot just add a fob. There has to be a receiver in the vehicle that receives the signal from the fob. Some 95-00 trucks got dealer installed Theft Deterrent System also called Securikey installed.

    The fob looks like this:

or the key looks like this:

Later trucks got a RS3000 or RS3200 and the fob looks like this:

If your truck is a 1999, it most likely did not have the RS3000 or RS3200, so you would need to get an aftermarket keyless entry system.
