I woke up today with a 13 degree temp outside. i tried to use my pickup and it would start but only run for 2 or 3 seconds, it ran smooth but that was it, tried several times, pushing gas pedal down didn't change anything. Has a PO 100 code and mass air sensor looked fine, cleaned it with throttle body cleaner and didn't help. Checked air hose and vacuum hoses, tapped on EGR also. This is a 4.2 4 cylinder 1999 year model 2wd. I have 12 V on center socket of 5 pin connected with key on.....i replaced mass air sensor and that didn't help the cause. It runs the same if i run it with mass air sensor unplugged. There are no other codes, if it weren't pumping fuel i can't believe it starts fine every time and no skipping or popping when it cuts off.....i know the 5 pin connector center pin should have 12v but does #1 pin have voltage when unplugged not running.....any ideas or tricks to try...its like the ECU is not seeing something in that time frame

P0100 is a MAF circuit fault

    Mass Airflow Pins:

    1 (Brown/Black): IAT Sensor Ground
    2 (Yellow/Green): IAT Sensor Signal
    3 (White/Red): MAF Sensor Power
    4 (Brown/White): MAF Sensor Ground
    5 (Grey/Red): MAF Sensor Signal

Make sure Pin 4 is grounded, if that's good you need to check the signal wire Pin 5 for a short to ground and for continuity to the PCM Connector E7 Pin 2.

Funny, ran into a shop of mine with a vermin chewed harness on a late model car…….like a 2018 Kia (?)
Tech showed me the chewed wires
Showed me a white, fine powder on harness if you pulled the loom back far enough.
    Freakin corn starch
Was told to ‘stop friction’ inside harness loom when looped around engine bay

Well its too cold to work outside with old plastic parts but i
checked wires for #4 grd at pcm and #5 and they were both
open at connectors at E6 pin 7 and E7 pin 2.....looked at wiring
underneath on side of automatic case and can see some chewed
thru wires....i hope wires there have something to do with mass air
wiring but if they are not they are chewed into somewhere else for sure

Warmer today, found pin # 4 and 5 wires chewed into, they really like the wires, 2 inches missing in length. I still have wiring missing at trans itself
4 inches missing of a two wire harness to a sensor on left side midway pointing straight up, sensor has a 90 degree top to it...one red wire and one blue
    i ordered a 11156 connector from Amazon...guessing a O/D sensor or speed....i 'm glad i ordered a cheap $20 mass air sensor but it's running with it
thank you treyus30 for the stuff you sent...could not have got it going without it
