Hello Everyone. I am new to this forum and I was wondering if someone would please help me out. I had the alternator, battery and starter tested at Orielly's and the test came back as everything good. I have a 1999 Toyota Tacoma SR 5 4x4 6cyl which wont crank on occasion. I only get one click. I have to try several times before it will turn over and start. I have heard that my contacts on my starter can possibly be going or dirty. But even if they were dirty would it show my starter still be in good shape just like orielly's test? I wonder if the LIFETIME warranty I got from Oriellys cover dirty or worn contacts. The counter guy just kept saying that his tests came back as my starter being good. Thank You.

"counter guy" and "mechanic" are not synonyms
I'm sure that some of those guys might be knowledgeable and experienced DIY'ers like some of us, but I wouldn't trust them.

I don't know whats involved in a "counter guy" starter test, but your symptoms are typical of bad contacts in the starter solenoid. How old is the starter?

It could also be bad, loose or corroded battery cables. Have you disconnected and cleaned them?

Thank you for responding to my post. The starter is about 5 years old. The battery cables and posts look good. The test done by the counter guy consisted of hooking up a battery charger type of machine. After closer look I noticed two things one is that I am in desperate need of a valve cover gasket job. It is leaking down and my alternator had oil and so does my starter. And I also noticed a black ground wire that was pulled loose from the negative post. This site is screwed right next to the battery and into the body of the truck. It seems that the battery hold down snot properly screwed back and the battery had been moving on hard turns this pulling the black wire it. I put it back on the post and let's see if it does it again once again thank you
