1999 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 3.4 v6

Auto trans. I just bought it yesterday it had been sitting for a “year” I think longer but I jumped it off and it ran like a champ ran very good I drove it to my buddy’s and cut it off and it didn’t wanna start back I couldn’t hear the fuel pump kicking on and finally got it to run just by turning on and off got it home and cut it off tried to start it back up this morning and same thing couldn’t hear the pump coming on. The fuel pump is good and it is not getting spark I’ve checked fuses under hood and under dash checked crank and cam shaft position sensors. Any suggestions I’m gonna try to get a ecm tomorrow

 

Just what codes have you pulled?? That is always your first step.

Where does the truck Live ?? Could just be a clogged fuel filter allowing only so much gas to get through.

Sticking EFI or Circuit opening Relay .

Why do you say no spark ?? If The ECM does not detect spark it shuts off the fuel .

 

Fuel pump comes on with ignition in start position and then stays on while running.
Doesn't come on in ON position only.
Gotta be cranking or running.

 

I’m not getting fire to the fuel pump it’s not clogged. I’ve checked and swamped fuses and relays. I pulled a wire off and spun it over and no spark.

 

And the fuel pump it not getting power to it while spinning it over

 

Just to clarify
No power to fuel pump when starting engine ( cranking ).
No spark when starting ( cranking )
If yes
Igniter, cam/ crank sensor test ok?
Any broken, frayed, chewed, loose connections to igniter or sensors ?

 

Where is the igniter and No power to pump at any time with the key on or cranking

 

Is it possible for the timing belt to slip?

 

It looks fine but idk

 

And sometimes the pump will kick on and the truck will try to start in the middle of turning it over

 

Back to what if any codes have you pulled??

Igniter should be on the right inner fender not far from the Air Box on a 3.4

You going back to check fuses and relays is pointless considering you were able to get the truck running again, only to have the same issue after shutting it off.

A fuse doesn't go bad, then good, then bad again.

 

The fuse itself No but if a fuse or relay has a poor/loose connection in the socket pulling it out to test could cause it to work again for a brief time when it is reinstalled .

Sitting for a year . Fresh gas would be a start .

Just how are you sure the fuel pump is good ?It would not be the first one to run out of fuel no matter what the gauge says.

Battery voltage dropped to low ECM went night night Hibernation .

New to you vehicles are fun having no idea how much custom work has been performed on the wiring harness.

What is the fuel pressure? No "it is getting gas" is not the answer.

 

I have no spark and no power to the fuel pump

 

I pulled the bed off it has like 1/2 a tank of gas and I’m not getting power to the pump ant any time cranking or with the key on and I’m not getting spark. Sometimes the pump will come on while cranking and it will try to start and it acts like the timing is off I’ve checked relucor wheel and the timing marks all line up
