Hello, I have a 1999 Toyota Tacoma that was blowing cold air last summer. But now it doesn’t work. It blows a good amount of air through the side vents but the middle vents don’t blow strong at all. I tried to put Freon in it but it wasn’t building up any pressure. So if anyone had ever had this problem please let me know how you fixed it.

Really need to know system pressures on the high and low side to begin to diagnose an A/C concern.

Does the A/C compressor turn on?

    AC systems tricky
I mean, can by diagn/fixed by yourself but you need some pretty expensive Evac and Recharge machine and those brass triple gauges

need to see if you have leak(system has no pressure/no Freon)
    Or
If under pressure could be something simple

typically, a shop would evac system(suck/vacuum) everything out, then recharge system with Freon/oil and add a dye that is visible with black lite
    Then search for the leak
Good guess is 1.7hrs mechanical rate plus Freon/dye…then you can determine what needs to be replaced
Then evac system, replace the failed part and recharge system

    top tip
If a hose is leaking, you can take to an old school auto part store that makes hoses……like $65 to remake hose
Instead of $250+ to buy new

to see if system pressurized, can press both Schroeder valve for a milli second, see if Freon comes out
Don’t do this if EPA is around

If it wasn't building pressure, it must be leaking. You'll probably need to do a UV dye test if it isn't obvious where the leak is
