Wow. Thats a good one. Be careful they dont stop well. Its not a car, and will slide. Especially in the rain.

Ah, so THAT's the red my 99 would be if it weren't so faded :)

And yes, I concur with @Potomus Pete, they're not the best stoppers.

I had a 1998 that was very similar to this truck. Exhaust manifold ended up cracking and having to be replaced. Eventually Toyota bought it back from me. Enjoy it.

Check the frame with a hammer, they rust rot from the inside out.

    How mechanically inclined are you?

Number one most important piece of maintenance on these 3rz 2.7L motors is having the valves adjusted. Exhaust valves tighten over time and then burn. Cheaper and easier to adjust valves then rebuild a head if one burns through.

Otherwise just basic maintenance, they're great trucks but it's over 20 years old. They're not invincible

Don't neglect your ball joints. Make sure they are in good shape. Especially the lowers.

You don't see Prerunners any more. Even here in Florida where they dont rust they are few and far between. People always get exited at mine. Even more than my Foxbody or my 99 Jeep TJ

OP said it was 4x4. No step or fender flares and that black lateral line makes for a great look and makes me want to do that on my extra cab.
