I cant really find to much about doing this swap, from what I see it looks like its going to be a fairly smooth job I hope.

I found out today that the engine in my 2006 tacoma threw a rod, made two good 2" size holes in the side of the block and spit out what was left of the piston.
I bought another used engine today, Its from a 2007 tacoma, should bolt right in. So tomorrow im going to attack the swap, pull out the old engine and put in the new one.

I will be sure to take many pictures and post pics of the carnage from the old block.

    Wish me luck!!!:fingerscrossed:

Good Luck, you shouldn't have any real issues on a direct swap.

You think the 5.7 would fit in a Tacoma?

^^^ looks awesome but if you are going that route it's a lot more than just a motor to swap in. Axles, transmission, driveshaft all rated for 400 hp which the OEM Tacoma stuff might be fine for a while.

Exactly. But it has been done nonetheless.... My dream is a 454 straight piped in there...

    One set of code letters.
    1ur-fse

383 hp version of 4.6L tundra motor found in lexus gs460. Get tundra bell housing and torque convertor and figure out transmission controls. Yup. That's the swap.
I do like the idea of the 2jz vvti motor though

i mean if you are going to do a UR swap...

2UR-GSE out of the lexus RC-F 471 hp and 391 ftlbs sounds tasty.

OP do you know what caused a rod to be thrown, thats not a common thing on the 1GR

I bought it with a blown engine, the truck has 376,000km he was pushing it hard coming back to Vancouver from 100 mile house, hot weather, I'm pretty sure it was low on oil as well and boom! I got the engine ready to pull now, tomorrow I'm going to pull it out and get the new one in, I will post pictures of the carnage

Hope it all goes smooth. I plan so much that I don't normally have issues but that should be the same exact motor.
Did you get just a long block or complete?
Curiosity, what km and what did you pay
