Cool bro! I would love to see your 1GR-FE run on the 1/4 mile. Gabe is already discussing how we can hit the 500hp mark! lol

Can't wait to see yours run!

On your engine, 500 is nothing for it. ;) What kind and size turbo are you running?

Can't wait for the intake manifold on my truck! With numbers like that in a truck that small it must move along real nice.

I don't believe that that would be a very wise approach for gaining power. I bet you $10 that the parts on the 03-04 will be identical to the parts on a 2011 (maybe not a 2012 since they added some pollution control parts).

And the higher power rating carried right into 2005. If you look at the 2005 Tacoma specifications, they were rated 164 and 245 hp. They are now (starting with 2006) rated 159 and 236 hp. The difference isn't in the engines, its in the calculations, "SAE certified power" came into effect.

It might be possible about the SAE time frame. I am not sure. I just remember reading that the 03-04 had higher torque and HP than the -05+, on the same octane levels.

There is one significant difference between those two versions of the 1GR. The intake cam gears have different pick-up's for the intake cam gear sensors. Which are also different, and cannot be used between the 4Runner and Tacoma. The intake cam gears of the different versions are however, interchangeable. As I have swapped cam them. It is also necessary if you install an 03-04 1GR into an 05-11.

Currently, I am rebuilding the 03 1GR, and am going to put a good clean set of 05+ heads onto it. I know they will bolt up already, which complements what you stated. There might however, be a difference in the cam profiles, which makes for slightly different power levels? At this point, i don't even give a damn about that though, asong as I can get this engine (my back-up) running again. Lol.

03-04 also have pistons made by "ART", whereas the 05+ are made by Aisin.

The runners are too short. Looks neat, buuut, post and pre-dynos would be nice along with any flow bench stats

It could very well look like this if someone wanted to have is dipped in carbon fiber. On the other hand whatever happened to the dyno numbers and a price on this thing.
