Dailey Engineering has solved the pump issue in a vary elegant way.

They mount the pump on the pan itself that way we wont have to deal with different brackets for the engines.

example lol we would be in trouble if that was the pan. Im still talking to dailey engineering and Monkey Wrench Racing to get them on board. MWR seems receptive so far.

Just subscribed. I'm having an issue with my oil pump, I think it's on its way out. Driver's side ticking is definitely coming from valve cover, ruled out all the other common causes (Definitely not PWM Valve, or exhaust leak as the manifolds were just upgraded). I've read that the driver's side valvetrain is the first place to stop getting adequate oil as it's furthest down the line from the pump. I'm looking for solutions.

Obvious first solution would be to just get in there and replace the oil pump. I'm hoping you guys can shed some light on that for me - to get at the oil pump the FSM says the front diff, lower control arms, power steering link all have to come out - is this true? I know the front of the engine has to be disassembled but that seems like a lot. Hoping one of you guys can give some pointers.

Then I got thinking about dry sump systems, and found this thread. Any progress on the kit? I figure if I have to do that much work, might as well upgrade if I can.

Another idea I was thinking about was maybe just setting up a secondary oil pump. Just use an external oil pump from a dry sump system but just using the oil pan instead of setting up an external reservoir. Would this even work? I basically just need to increase flow to make sure I'm getting adequate oil. Really appreciate any input you guys have.

EDIT: I have a thread of my own here - http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/339559-oil-pump-questions.html

Driver side head actually receives the oil first.

You can pull the timing cover in the engine bay, and get to the oil pump in that manner. Just have to be very careful re-installing the timing cover.

Sorry its been forever, Im still working on the project Im just running into other issues in the MR2 Ive been addressing... and trying to get a pan to work for both FR and FF layouts has been a challenge. I also couldn't get dailey to help out so Ive been going at this on my own... needless to say its difficult and slow going.
