So I snapped a rod on the new used engine I put in my supercharged tacoma. That engine cost me 2900$cdn. Now I'm looking for another on and the prices are all around 4k used. Why are these engines so expensive?! The 2uzfe v8 is less than a third the price for similar mileage and condition and it has two more cylinders! Is it possible to put the 2uz into a tacoma if you use the 4runner wiring, mounts, ecu, and bellhousing? All the associated parts to do the swap might end up being cheaper than getting another 1gr and you get a v8. Yes I know they both have their downfalls, 2uz is iron with weak rods and the 1gr at least in my experience hates higher boost. Let's hear some opinions

2 different engines? You're doing something wrong.

One melted the pistons due to bad fuel and the other snapped the rod at 2000rpm without the supercharger hooked up so it was shit luck

what kind of oil are you running? that's is some really bad luck to go through 2 engines like that.

have you run any oil test at all? these engines are tougher then a brick wall. I tried to destroy mine before 30k miles but it just took everything I threw at it. something is off to me here though. how did you have you SC unhooked? that's what forces air into the combustion chamber to alow it to fire. sounds almost like timing to off for fuel to detonate a piston like that. but what happened, happened time for a V8 swap.

Urd stage 3. The intercooler charge piping wasn't attached and it had the stock tune and injectors in it. Superchargers do put air in the cylinders but it will run without it.

why not change the rod unless you did something catastrophic, or have a motor built since it will be your 3rd one and you like boost

Hole in the block. I'd still need another engine to build as my other one has damaged bores. I'm most likely going to sell the supercharger hence the v8 swap it's to keep some of the power. Yes I know it's not much more but it's easier to make more out of the 8 than the 6
