1K mile oil change or not

Hey fellas, I was wondering is the changing oil around 1000 miles for new truck good thing? I've heard people saying you need to do it because particles and all that that comes off since engine is new.

Is this a real thing? or should I wait for 5K miles, 2023 V6

 

Imo you’ll be fine running it until 3 to 5000 miles. Your oil filter is going to catch most everything.

 

If you follow the owners manual it’s every 10k miles unless you meet the heavy use circumstances, then they recommend every 5K. 10K also happens to be number of threads on this topic already lol

 

I do it on all my vehicles just to do it. Is it needed? Prob not. Gives me piece of mind

 

If you sleep better at night do it. I never have.

I did it . It can’t hurt . If your ok with the expense , go for it . Fresh oil can’t be bad

 

Oil is cheap, engines are not. Go by your instinct. I've never done that. I always change at 5,000 miles.

 

If you’re a real Tacoma owner you’d have done it at 500 miles and again 1,000. And make sure you only use premium gas because “you know it runs better”.

 

If you are thinking about it, then just do it.

I do mine every 5k .. 10k seems to much .. but I live in a dusty climate and do alot of city and highway driving.

 

I did it on my 23 at 1000 miles, changed with Amsoil.

 

Good luck if your rings will ever seat using a pure synthetic. You can be doing a new engine a real disservice, and not realize it.

 

Took mine in around 800 miles. Piece of mind. Cost about 80 bucks and they found I had a leaking axle boot. So, for me it was definitely worth the visit. Still waiting for my replacement axle, but that will be another thread

I changed mine at 350. Then at 2000. Then at 5K. I plan on sticking to a 5K schedule

The comments of the oil filter will catch everything, no, that’s not always true. A filter in 6 quarts oil is pretty cheap, in my opinion. I wanted anything and everything out as soon as possible. I’ve built automotive engines I’ve built aircraft engines, manufacturing processes, allow for a bit more debris than most people would like to believe.

I plan on changing the fluid in the front differential rear differential transfer case at 10k.

 

What do you think the factory is using when they send these engines out?
Synthetic.

 

First change for me was at 900 miles. Then every 5,000 miles.
