I will say this.... At the time me and Sandy got married, I was buying and selling and restoring antique John Deere tractors. It was also about the time John Deere stuff became "fashionable". We did have a John Deere themed reception. Rode off on a $75,000 1959 Deere 430 Hi Crop I was selling for another collector.

BTW, we lived in Jefferson County @ the time. (Okalona, which is worse than Bullit county)

Black Mountain is going to be incredible! 51 trucks signed up already. I don't expect everyone to make it, but a good percentage will still be quite a crowd. I was HOPING for 10 or 12!

I'd like 10 to be at Rush at this point.

Oh well, whoever can make it, makes it. If the date is that big of an issue, it can be moved to a different time of year

    You'll get a group....Maybe just a few....but keep in mind two things.

    1. I started posting about Harlan 2017 over 7 months prior to the event, and well before everyone had started making "summer plans". Next year, start WAY ahead of time. Also, keep in mind that first year "events" don't always just explode into giant success. Harlan year 1 was 3 of us. We scared 1 off completely....He lives not too far from me. It was his first ever off road adventure. I haven't heard from him since. I guess it wasn't his thing....He didn't like pinstripes and was bummed about getting his truck dirty. He would have stroked out at RRG.... The other person...Brian Fleck, @fleckosaurus , was at year 2, and will be there for year 3. Build a base and keep adding to it. You'll win a few and loose a few as you go.

    2. There are 51 drivers listed in the Harlan meet so far. Until it happens, NONE of them have actually shown up. Nothing says 2018 won't be 3 again....Just keep planning, and don't get discouraged when preliminary event isn't a huge crowd. It's a hit or miss proposition. You have to build a "history" when you're trying to establish an annual event. Take tons of pictures and make sure EVERYONE is aware of the fun they missed out on if they didn't go. Create interest in NEXT year as this years event plays out.

And BTW....I'm looking forward to Rush. I'll have most, if not all my parts and pieces added on to the truck by then. Looking forward to a good shake down run...And winching someone out! (Who knows, that may be ME)

If I didn't feel pressure from the owner to make this into something bigger, I wouldn't sweat it so much. It's my fault for assuming we'd actually have a good turnout for this and told him to expect at least 10 trucks minimum. I also didn't plan on people breaking at Turkey Bay, and I can't assume everyone can go wheeling with little regard to everything else in life like I do.

I just get up and go.

The owner has been more than accommodating and welcoming for a new group of strangers to come tear up his off road park. Brandon and I will try and get as many pics and vids we can on Sunday.

    Check The Build Thread
If your issue is the owners expectations, talk to him when you go Sunday. Let him know people's hesitation with it being an unknown park in our little TW circle and give him an example of how @Bluegrass Taco's meet has blown up. You'll manage his expectations and get him excited for the potential vs the short term.

I had lunch with my neices husband, who happens to be the plumber I use @ work. He's into RZR's and VW powered buggies. I mentioned to him we were going to Rush in September as I was getting in my truck.....

His reply? Pointed at my truck and said "In that", in the form of a question. Next comment was "Stock up on the bondo before you go".

    This could be really interesting.

Heard the same from other people as well, who drive RZRs too. Those folks must do dumb shit regularly.

We'll find out tomorrow what it's all about

    Serious?

Not sure if I'm more concerned about another local member who decided to finally come out the wood work, or you not coming to the meet. Either way, you should come out

Doesn't look like I'm making these dates either. Looks like I won't get to wheel until harlen. Unless we get a date at the gorge or something
