1st Gen 1, 3rd Gen 0

I drove the new corrola hatch back. They aren’t to bad and I got 37mpgs. The only problem it was flame blue.

 

i want the flame blue in 6sp xse
purely made in Japan
the other colors just don't stand out for me with the black parts in front and back blending in

 

I’m a darker color car guy so that’s what got me. It was the automatic version(dealer loaner). The seat was really comfy. Only issue for me is I’m 6’1” and have knee and back issues so getting in and out was hard.

 

True but the 2nd & 3rd are basically the same platform - a mid size truck. The manual transmission is a rarity now a days so they do have that going for them.

The 1st gen is different because it's more like the older Toyota pickups....and you can't buy a new compact truck anymore.

 

yeah i have some progressing neck issues that made it a bit difficult to get in and out, but not nearly as difficult as my '96 Corolla (always hitting my head getting in/out like an old elderly great-grandpa)

 

Fair enuff. But the market is changing at the same time as well. The now "older" generation of people will know those vehicles well and be after them more. The "younger" generation (which will be old some day) will follow the same trend.

 

Any of you still have the dealers window sticker and paperwork ????? ................ I still have mine !!! . When someone is asking about my truck I pull out the window sticker out the glovebox . The look on their faces when their jaw drops is priceless LOL !!!

Listen, I love the 1st gens, but they are tiny. I know a lot of people dig that, I would too if I had another daily driver or if I was single, but it’s too small for a family. The new ones are way more practical in that regard. Anyway, glad you guys are so proud of your trucks. Just FYI, most of us are, regardless of generation.

 

LOL, I'm the same way! I bought my truck used, about 3 years old I believe, and have had it ever since. I still treat it like a new vehicle. It's of course acquired some scratches and nicks along the way but I do whatever I can to minimize the possibility. Underside looks almost good as new and trying to keep the topside the same. Outside of a major wreck or the engine and transmission blowing up I don't see me ever getting rid of this vehicle so I take as good care of it as I can. Often wish I had a solid running beater truck for kicking around town that I don't have to worry about, especially as these gems approach "classic car" age. hahaha

and some of our doors are squeaky

in the long ago days, men had their trucks (for work and/or fishing, etc.) and the wives/family had the station wagon/Van or other bigger car to tranport the family
transporting 'family' in a truck was not common
unless you are out in the country and throw everybody back into the bed lol

My truck (double cab) is actually our primary travel vehicle for me, the wife and child and the dog. I will NOT disagree that I would love to have more room and have considered countless times getting a newer Tacoma or even a Tundra, still do. But even though this truck requires some "thoughtful" packing at times, it still works and has just been too reliable to get rid of. Plus, I absolutely HATE car payments more than anything-more than I even like my truck! LOL So that's always a trip up.
