Getting my OME 2 inch lift in hopefully next week. Ever since I got the truck I was thinking I'd like to lift it 3 inches. I know body lifts get bad rep on here, but I think I want to do a 1 inch body lift in the near future. I don't offroad much and when I do it's nothing extreme or hard at all, just like getting out in the woods and off pavement. Anyone have suggestions on brands or places to order one from? Or talk me out of it?

    * Edited title to show its for a first gen tacoma since the thread got moved out of the first gen forum*

Daystar makes a really nice kit. The lift is integrated into the body mount bushings, as opposed to pucks stacked on top of them.

I run one on my truck, but for different reasons. You're right that you'll catch hell on here for wanting or having one, so just be ready for that. Sometimes the TW dogma is strong, but it's your truck and you should do whatever the fuck you want with it. Never hurts to be educated about it, though.

Thanks, I saw the Daystar one. I'm new to the whole lifting and truck realm so I'd rather ask before spending good money on junk

4Crawler (Roger Brown) body lifts are probably the creme of the crop. Very crappy website however...
You can read more than you care to know about body lifts on his pages.
The Tacoma specific page is here
    http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/ForSale/ToyotaTacoma.shtml

I have the 1" BL and have zero problems due to it. gave me the extra inch to clear my 285/75 tires and the increased access to upper bellhousing bolts is huge + ....

I will also suggest 4crawler. Website not the best but you can email him to setup the order.

I dont understand why BL's get a bad wrap. Its usually uneducated people thinking they are bad for many different reasons. In real world situation the best off roading is a low center of gravity with the most amount of suspension travel possible.

You start adding 3, 4, 5, or 6" suspension lifts your drastically raising the COG. Best option is a 2-3" lift. Then add the body lift on top to help clear tires, suspension travel, obstacles on the trail.

I had a 4Crawler 2" BL that I pulled before I ran my current Daystar 1" lift. I vastly prefer the Daystar, except for the lack of a gas tank filler shim.

For the rear I did, the front I left alone. I do have aftermarket plate bumpers. I don't mind the gap, all exposed sheet metal was painted black

I saw a 4runner and he had left the gaps and it didn't look bad at all

4Crawler has a set of relocation plates for the stock front bumper that work really well.

I had a 1" Roger Brown/4Crawler lift on my previous '99. Was easy to install; only took about an hour. No issues with it

I got the 1.5" gap all over my 3rd gen 4runner. If you paint your body black under the gaps its not as bad.
