I have searched the forums, and parts diagrams to try and locate a part. My Tacoma is a 2002 PreRunner. The clips (not sure of the actual term for this piece) that surround the rods/pins that secure the tailgate closed. One of mine broke and the remaining one appears to be needing replacement. Anyone have or can guide me to the part number and/or part name. I would like to locate one to replace.

You will have to replace the whole latch by removing the tailgate cover, it’s a quick job. Best to buy both of them while you are in there. Parts are on www.toyotapartsdeal.com as well as Camelback Toyota On here (hopefully somebody can get you alone to the forum).

Oh yeah- make sure you have. #3 Phillips bit for those big screws. Home Depot stocks them. Use an impact driver, nice and gentle.

He's talking about the broken plastic piece that surrounds the latch (yellow arrow in pic). This helps guide the latch in straight.

If it were me, I'd probably just leave it alone as long is it still latched, but I'm not the OP.

I agree, I will leave it as is for now. The piece in the picture I posted is metal. Thanks everyone. I am sure I will have more to post, a lot of work ahead for me on this one.
