One of those scanners is pretty cool for constant mpg monitoring

I've always tried to modify to improve. I have been getting 15-17 city driving. Recently got 19-20 highway driving at 75mph or faster. I have yet to really try to get the best possible. I think I can get 23 if I suffer at 50 55 mph and get a tail wind. That's all on my 1st gen

On my 3rd gen I have gotten 30mpg basically coasting around and never going over 55.
    Mph.

I have some plans on lighter wheels/ tire combo bed cover or cap and even regearing for better mpg. I know this is crazy because it is.

Owned my '04 Xtracab since Jan '21, put 6k miles on it, and averaged 15.0 mpg. Min is 12.2, max is 18.9.

17 to 23. Both on 32" tires/lift, both turbocharged 3.4. Was doing better on KM2's than now on some cheap AT's bit I think the KM's run a little short and the AT's run a little tall so I might be selling myself short on my calcs.

The scanners aren't accurate to my knowledge since we don't have fuel flow meters - it uses other data and guesses.

My 2001 extra cab manual 4wd on Load E 10ply 33's and steel wheels with a brush guard gets about 200 miles per tank, well at the gas light.

I saw the title"1st gen 3.4 mpg" and immediately thought...

Wow that's really bad. There must be something wrong with that truck. Even a 1980's Chevy Suburban gets 7-10 mpg.

I enjoy my Tacoma a lot more now that I no longer care about MPG.
