I edited my post and added it. It's really just a rubber vacuum cap that you can easily pick up anywhere.

I bought 4 rolls of 10' each of blue 3mm, 4mm, 6mm & 8mm silicone hose. Everything was changed out as recommended except the throttle body hoses as it was stated here not to, they were fine as is. Removing & replacing one line @ a time eliminating my ooops situations.

The rats/mice had chewed up my windshield washer hoses & so they were replaced with 3mm hoses after all these years of electrical tape repairs. The real headbanger was the ELL connection @ the fender as it went from a clear hose to a larger hose in the fender that my big hands can't get to. After way to long compared to the rest of the installation, the darn new hose finally gave up & went onto ELL & that was the last piece.

It cost less than $50.00 for all the silicone hose & I have a small amount left for other projects (military trucks) that need a bit of attention to their repairs. The military use blue silicone hoses to do all repairs on their trucks as we taxpayers foot the bill.

That metal pipe on top of the engine is no longer unconnected. Since I had extra 4mm hose, I connected both ends to each other & ran it along the firewall. It always bothered me & the answer found here showed that it is on all engines of this period, but not used on most.

Thanks for the info on the sizes & lengths of hoses need to do a 2004 V6 Toyota Tacoma truck. It was a huge help in getting me motivated enough to fix age deteriorated & rat/mice damaged hoses in my truck. On a cooler day, the next project is the sparkplugs & oil/oilfilter change along with the driveline lubrication.

    Looks clean and correct.
That metal tube you added a loop for is pretty easy to cut off for a cleaner look if it bothers you like it did me.

I wish I could do this but my smog guy told me specifically that silicone vacuum hoses would be an automatic fail. (California)

What I load of BS, that makes zero sense to me. if you stuck to black hoses they might not notice but probably not worth the effort

I agree, it's BS, but I'm also not going to push my luck.

UPDATE: So I talked to my smog guy this evening and asked him why silicone hoses would an auto-fail. He said it wasn't, as long as everything was routed correctly. I could swear that was not the answer he gave me, but that was also a couple years ago when we talked about it. Maybe I mis-heard, or my memory is getting fuzzy ( I am getting kind of old), or something changed his mind since then. Either way, it sounds like I'm good to go when I get around to replacing these hoses. :notsure:

Do you know the part number to the valve/fitting it connects to? Or can you confirm that that valve locks in place? Mine slides right out, leaking

I just popped the hood and gave them a squeeze. After 5 years they are holding up really well, no cracking or visible degradation.

I have read some concerns about wall thickness, I’m guessing this hasn’t presented any concerns vs OEM?

I haven't had any issues in 5 years. The silicone hoses seemed comparable in size to the OEM hoses.

When I replaced the vacuum lines I was trying to rule out potential causes of a small evap check engine light. My issue ended up being rusty surfaces leading to a small leak in the gas tank gaskets.
