That's right, I remember someone explaining the CARB compliance thing a while back. So it is true, not good or bad just true, that Cali did create their own standard for air quality, etc and any parts added to drive train have to be CARB approved. That torn vac hose must've been noticed during that part of inspection.
I've heard eon_blue mention a star inspection that's required every few years? You familiar with that one? Sounded like it might be more stringent? Wonder what they could search for above and beyond what they already do?

Here they still use the tail pipe sniffer on vehicles that are pre-1996 as they didn't have OBD2. I haven't seen them use the sniffer in anything newer

From the pic I can see PCV hose and brake booster hose could use changed still.

You can only run black hoses in Ca,... wait that sounded bad! They will flunk you for color anodized pullies if not black too, and best to have carb stickers for intakes/headers/supercharger. All vehicles 09 and older are STAR TEST ONLY. It sucks they lowered the numbers that were acceptable to pass smog before, so guys like me with a federal edition truck (1) cat only, we shit bricks, unless you keep the cat off the truck to stay perfect between smogs. That way you’re cat gets no wear internally from years of use and wind up paying 1g for a new factory cat if you flunk. Now that I’m typing this it makes me upset to live here every year.:annoyed:

Yep, in fact if it’s aluminum at all good luck, and I was stating facts about the smog guys. My smog tech didn’t care about any of that shit and I’ve went to others for a deal but they always pick on my truck so I pay a little more and I don’t get any visual hassles. I wish the 30 year rule was observed and in ten years have no smog just registration, I’d be ready for twin turbos, but that’s a pipe dream in Ca.
