Wish I could help but I don't know anything about that really, I'm interested to hear opinions though. What is your reason for doing this? More flex like when people run 63's on older toyotas?

I wanna do the 63 swap on my 01 and I got some questions.
    1. What is the most complete kit for doing this swap

It’s all custom. Got to piece together your parts for your application. There’s kits with mounts and shackles, but it’s not fully complete. For the first gen, the rear shock mount to the lower perch. You will need to weld a new shock mount to the axle as you will be going with a unbolt flip with the 63’s.

    2. I saw on the 2nd gen write up to use 12" shocks...is it the same for 1st gen

12” sounds about right to utilize the full articulation. compression/droop of the new springs. Fitting 12” shocks the the issue.

    3. I was thinking of moving the shocks inward a bit to achieve more flex with less shock travel.. thought on this idea

The more triangulated/angled the shock, the less effective it is. It looses it 1-to-1 ratio. This is where stiffer specific valving can compensate.

    4. Is this something that can be done in a weekend I daily my tacoma and will need it ready to go Monday lol
I'm sure I'll come up with more questions as this goes on thanks and have a good one

There’s going to be a lot of cutting and welding.
Having a capable welder and welding machine is key. There are threads on other sites that give the ideal location to where to mount the new front and rear leaf mounts. This will place your axle in the stock location.

    Prep is key.
    Longer break lines
    Break porportion valve extension
Cutting inner fenders for max compression.
    New bump stops

It may be drivable in a weekend, but fine tuning will take longer

lowrangeoffroad.com has an excellent tutorial for this swap. Just look for "instructions" on the home page, and pick your truck. You'll take a good weekend just becoming familiar with this swap, which will be time well spent. You may figure out how to do this in steps, but at least you'll have a good idea of everything you'll need. Best have alternate transportation plans for Monday though.

I wanna do the 63 swap on my 01 and I got some questions.
    1. What is the most complete kit for doing this swap - RuffStuff Specialties ideal 63, skip LowRange. Better choices, better hardware.
    2. I saw on the 2nd gen write up to use 12" shocks...is it the same for 1st gen. Dont buy any shock until you measure travel, your going to have todo new shock mounts anyway.
    3. I was thinking of moving the shocks inward a bit to achieve more flex with less shock travel.. thought on this idea. Just dont get to crazy with ^ type of angle.
    4. Is this something that can be done in a weekend I daily my tacoma and will need it ready to go Monday lol. Can definitley done in a weekend easily, bulk of the time will be cutting the old leaf spring bolts out and then tacking and testing to get a proper shackle angle.

I wanna do it for a few reasons 1 more flex like you said 2 my factory leads are toast and its cheaper to do the 63 swap than to go buy Dakars

I know the fine tweaking will take awile just need to make it driveable..the gfs dad works at a fabrication/frame repair shop so definitely got welder and machine... im also swapping in a elocker axle( previous owner took the factory locker out for some reason so swap will be easy just want to only take it all apart once)...I hadn't thought about the break lines so thanks for mentioning that

I noticed that lowrangeoffroad is now selling an OEM 63" Chevy spring, with bushing. More money, but brand new. Anyone with experience?

The point of a chevy 63 swap is that you are building a suspension with cheap junkyard parts. Buying new springs defeats the purpose.

Keep an eye out on parts. They come up cheap. Make take a couple months but you'll save hundreds.

I really like my sky offroad 63 swap kit, the hd hangers are awesome.
Can be done in a weekend but the shock length/mounting and how hard it is to get the OEM parts off is the guessing game.
I inboarded my shocks and didn't really life how it drove on road, since my truck isn't a crawler I cut that back off and ran the shocks in a more traditional way.
