Big fan of Duralast Golds....The one in my Tacoma lasted 8 years. Replaced it with an Odyssey 2 years ago, no problems since. I had them in my F250 but gave the Walmart brand a whirl this time. Typically 7.3’s kill any batteries in 3-5 years so I’ll just exchange them anywhere if I need to.

I'm so far not impressed with the Interstate AGM battery I bought over a year ago. If it gets really cold and I don't drive the truck for two weeks it's typically deader than a hooker in the trunk of a Ford LTD in Michigan. I might move back to a flooded cell. The truck is kept in an unheated garage. I did charge it for 16 hours lat weekend. This happened at the start of last winter too.

Ever heard of a battery tender? when it gets cold sealed batteries try to contract and go down in voltage, Ive had this issue even with no parasitic loss. Its a crappy issue but if I dont drive a car with a agm battery for a week or two in the winter, my car starts a little hard until warmed up and driven. I wouldnt bother with this technology but in the So Cal summer they are beasts and workhorses. Yes some agm batts act up in the winter depending on cold crank amps.

It's on a slow rate charger for a 8 hours every few days now. I'm really leery about leaving batteries charging/floating for days on end. It's just the wrong battery for cold climates, but I'm only here for another year or two.

Battery life pretty much comes down to your location and how the starting system is used.

If I get 2 Years out of any Battery I feel I got my moneys worth.

    I am brutal on batteries

I have a Deka Second in my Daily Driver 4runner this will be the third winter

Shouldn't be a problem, its trickle charging. If you have the smart ones like a ctek you can def leave it on there for as long as the car is parked in your garage. I have one and its been working fine. I even brought back a dead battery on my tacoma because it wasn't holding a charge or getting charged by the alternator.

I just put one of those in my Taco. I was going to go with an AGM Northstar but when I realized my battery was really on it's way out I just went with the interstate. I was wondering how good the Interstates are these days. I hope mine lasts like yours.

Had the same dilemma last month. I had an Optima red top that worked great but it was5 years old and starting to show signs of slowing down, and after hearing about their lack of quality since being sold to another company I decided to go with a Duralast platinum. Specs were similar to Optima red and it was a little cheaper ($210 or around there). So far it's been great

I figured I got 6 years out of the last Toyota battery and I've heard they are crap so why not try the Interstate Megatron which is a much better battery than the Toyota batteries. It was kind of an impulse buy since I was at Big O getting some other work done and they had checked the battery and told me it was on it's way out. I knew they weren't lying because I had checked it myself recently. They had Interstates so I said put the best one you have in it.

I might try a Northstar next time. Maybe.

I like the sealed OPTIMA red or yellow top batteries.
Never have to refill them and no acid corrosion.
You can mount them upside down if you wanted too :) sealed!!
Group 35 with a optima spacer under it, 720 amps

Never had a problem with my Optima Red top either. I think it's hit or miss. By what I'm hearing.

There really isn't any such thing as "deep cycle/starting"--it's one or the other or some in-between mediocre "thing". Two entirely different duties...

With all due respect guys, Optima makes its batteries in Mexico so ahh noo! And to the Northstar guys-it looks exactly like Enersys/Odyssey batteries when they were grey and sold by Sears as Die Hard platinum...and the cases are exactly the same as Odyssey so thumbs up. Im pissed at Optima though myself, four dead yellow tops all Sams club! three dead red tops pep boys! and that was when Optima was making them in America. Im glad you guys like you're Optima batteries but I doubt quality went up went that company went South of the border, I live in Cali and cant even get decent mexican food like it used to be 20 years ago? If anybody's wondering my alt always regulates power to to 13.5-14 volts even at idle sooo, I guess karmas a bitch or my toyota dont like Optima. They look good though!

Can confirm I have an X2 Power Battery, it has a 5 year no questions asked warranty and is the best damn battery I've ever bought. When camping I run a small 12v fan, some lights and charge my phone and camera all night and it only drops from 12.4v to 12.3v

It's a rebranded North Star battery, North Star is the new king, took the throne when Optima sold out to Mexico.

Group 34 X2 Power by the way, had better stats than the larger Toyota branded (interstate) group 27 that I took out. when it finally dies I'm wanting to do dual group 27 X2 powers.

I think Odyssey has been on top for a while... Energysys is on their game and has produced the Odyssey brand for a long time
