    Hi all,
I am considering buying a used leer camper shell that came off an '87 toyota short bed. It looks like it is a 122 model. The only serial # label is
    Leer MW xxxxxx
    Toy SB 89-95

From what I've read the beds have the same size but I'm not sure how it will line up with the extended cab roof line and brake light. curious if anyone else has tried one on a 1st gen and what it looks like. The camper is 3+ hours from my home so I am trying to get an idea before making the drive. Thanks

You read wrong... The trucks are entirely different lengths and widths.

Beds might be same length but not the same width. Idk if you ever seen one of those trucks in person but they are tiny

FWIW, my Dad bought a camper shell off an 1988 Toyota Pickup 4x4 extended cab and it fit fine on his 1996 Tacoma extended cab. Didn't match the curve of the back of the cab on the Taco, but length and width were fine.

It depends, I bought an ARE on Craigslist that was from an 86-87? or so the person I bought it from- was from her father’s old truck and had been in the back yard for a few years. It is ok in length, just a bit narrow, won’t fit like one made for it but it was good enoughski till I find either a contractor cap or a used flippac etc. Had to find some longer window latch rods? That I cut down so the window could be locked. Not dust proof, but perhaps with enough weatherstripping anything is possible.....

    OME and worth every penny.
Small truck campers are pretty close in size to each other. My neighbor and I share one from his Ranger. It's old and I only use it for bringing the dogs on vacation but seals fine.
