    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Right on, when I get some time I'll take a look under there and see if I can find any land marks you might be able to pull off of.

Your shocks are mounted under bed. I think if I went outboard on mine (plus I have a body lift) I should be able to fit 14s with no problem, and not having to be lifted high in the back. (what is @cbechtold running for rear shocks on his? I think @Robmonster117 is running, like, 18s but SUA)

I was going to ask you about those TG shackle perches. A buddy of mine runs them on his Toyota Truck. He doesn't really have an opinion on them either. I have the regular shackle perches, I'll probably just stick with them.

Links and coils are not stable enough for this. You 4runner guys don't mind having your ass wiggle. I want to stay planted.

I need to put my rear axle in already, then I can just run outboard with the 12s and not have all the fun clearance annoyances. I put off LT this year in favor of more horsepower, but that doesn't mean I can't have a wider rear end to begin with, it's just sitting in the rafters now. Measure whatever landmarks you find on your frame from the drivers frame rail and the passenger frame rail too, otherwise you can trip yourself up copy and pasting from one side to the other. If your frame is like mine you'll find that the various holes and punch outs aren't perfectly in line from side to side.

4 link also means gas tank relocate which is technically illegal (Smog visual). And if I'm already getting sag with a set of +4 inch with +700 pound Alcans... No one makes a coil that would hold that.

Triangulated 4 link wouldn't have the weird wiggle that runners get but you'd def need two coilovers at each corner and gas tank move is a PITA, especialy if you're still reggo'd in CA.

Sure they do. You just gotta research it. Just like CARB legal fuel cells which do exist. Out of all the rigs I wheel with in big rocks the few that are linked have much better articulation. I get it though. It's a GIANT pain in the ass.

CA Visual smog says gas tank must be stock type and in stock location.

I would 100% bet they have better articulation. But that's gunna have to wait. lol

@Speedytech7 how bout from the trans cross member?

There's an oval on the back side of the cross member (it's there on both sides). How bout if you hooked to (or measured from center of it) that and went to center of the eye on the front perch.20230421_091514.jpg

I think the cross member is always in the same spot, regardless of auto/man 4cyl/6cyl. Cause I've never seen it make a difference on skid plates. (I'm pretty sure that cross member is in a slightly different spot on 3 gen T4R. But I think it's always same on Tacoma).

For the back. I know the earlier Tacoma had the rear leaf perches in a different spot. But I think the frame is always the same length. How bout measuring from the end of the frame to the center eye of shackle perch? Would that work?

I think I have that oval, V6 cross-members are the same thankfully, 4cyl are different between auto and manual and the V6. I'll give em a measure when I'm out there tonight

That would be awesome man. I think it could help others if we can get some good landmarks established. And I'd 100% trust your measurements. That would sure take out a lot of guess work for me, and speed up the process.

When ever you get a chance though. I'm not ready to start the actual project yet. I need to get the rear axle built before I'm going to actually do the 63s.

58-5/8" from the edge of that hole in the x member to the center of the bolt. Exactly the same on both sides of my frame (that surprised me actually).

Just so it's clear, this is how I was using that hole as a reference

    0426231821.jpg

9-3/8" from the end of the frame rail to the centerline of the shackle hanger.

    Hell ya bud! That helps.

Glad to give you an opportunity ta check your work lol. (that's pretty badass that the measure was same on both sides, without even having measured that way during fab)

    How long are your shackles?

    @Speedytech7

I think the front perches are a hard and fast measurement for 1st Gen with the 3.4 cross member.

The rear perch distance from the end of frame, I'm looking at as flexible depending on what shackle length and ride height different people want on their set up.

The rear measurement is probably pretty close to where I will end up, because it appears your ride height is close to where I'll end up (I know you're trying to keep it as low as you can, I'll be doing the same).

A lot of people gain an extra 1" to 1-1/2" because they don't french the main eye mount in too. My rear is about as low as you can be with this setup still working properly since my shackle angle is exactly 45°.

Oh, I was already scoping out your thread. The front perches are getting frenched as far as possible. And I think I'm going to add 1/4 reinforcement on the outside (and inside if I can get to it).

I'll also be hitting up @eimkeith for his tank relocated (wondering if he's tested it out on a double cab yet).

Right on. That's what I have now. But I'll burn through as many as I need to to get the ride height where I want it.

not yet - I bought a DC (actually putting the extra cab up for sale tonight) just to see if it will work without cutting (well, also so the dog can stretch out)
but I still have contractors working in the new shop space, so I can't roll it in there and take the bed off yet. :/
