Even $75 for some plastic emblems is still redonk expensive, IMO. People selling/buying them for $200-$300 are high AF.

I'm not so desperate to have other people know exactly what kind of truck I drive to spend that kind of money.

Another option is to take some dental floss to a wrecking yard...

That said, if anyone wants to trade, I'll give you ALL the emblems of my TRD 4x4 v6 for some King rear shocks...

some people just like their trucks to be perfect and look original and they pay lots of money for the parts they need to make that happen when that is what the goal of their truck is.

Yeah, and those people are getting played.

$999 for a couple plastic emblems is beyond absurd. I thought $300 was absurd.

It's like those pink ladies razors that cost 3x as much as the blue ones, but worse.

I wouldnt say anyone "gets played".. everyone decides for themselves how much somethings worth to them before they lay their own hard earned cash down.

Keep in mind these first gens are getting into "classic" age range now as many are over 25 years old. Although they are not the rarest or most collectible machines out there, some parts are still very sought after since these trucks do have a following and there are so many out there on the road still that people want to keep going!

It is apparent some people know this and are willing to pay the higher price tags for parts that may never be available again, or definitely will not get cheaper as time passes. The better you take care of your vehicle in general, the more it is worth down the road as well!

You tried those pink lady razors out for yourself at triple price?!! To each their own.. see?!:rofl:

By that definition, the Ford Pinto is a "classic" too.

Anyone charging $999 for a couple plastic emblems is 100% playing you. The door emblems are $40 at the dealership.

No, but my wife uses the blue ones.

I agree. Look at the value of first gens, look at the value of the yota trucks from the 1980's now. Originality and OEM matter to most people who spend top dollar on cars and trucks like this. Obviously the $500 Toyota tailgate emblem is an inappropriate and unnecessary purchase for beater trucks and heavily modified rigs that wouldn't be selling to someone looking for originality. But for the person who wants their truck to be genuine stock clean Toyota, in the big picture of life $500 isn't going to get in the way of most enthusiasts dialing in their trucks exactly how they want them.

Since I refuse to pay the amounts asked for the emblem, I replaced the TOYOTA name with a TOYODA emblem. :rolleyes:20210223_193039.jpg
