I am tired of not being able to see the factory clock since the steering wheel is in the way. I don't really want to move the steering wheel so thought I would try and move the clock. I started building a stainless steel holder for the clock.

How did you weld the stud so perfectly? I don’t even see a puddle.

The short one I drilled and tapped the plate, welded it then ground it off. The other is just a socket head bolt welded to the inside. I have to make the sides and weld them on next. I've got a lot of grinding and polishing to do as well.

If you can do the same thing, but for switches — you’ve got a million dollar product right there. I’d buy one to put switches in.

I love this high quality intricate type work... Looks sweet hombre:cool: many many folks would enjoy having an easily visible clock in their first gens. And those that deny it's in a bad spot cannot be trusted. :D:rofl:

You just moved yourself into the 'NOT TO BE TRUSTED' list.....
Of course some people will be okay with where the clock is lol. I made that blanket statement intentionally in jest. But you're good, thanks for playing along :D:cool:

Yeah the solder joints start to seperate. Dude on ebay I think sells them for 50 bucks and you send him your core.
I wouldn't pay anything for one or to fix but if I got bored enough I might pull the clock and resolder those connections. Prolly just needs a drop added in a couple spots. But there are plenty of other ways to get the time:cool:
Look what I grabbed out of storage :D
