Guys new to the forum as my son bought a 2000 Tacoma as a father son project. Was wondering as I start looking for parts, figured the old heads would know what parts does the Tacoma share with other toyotas? Steering wheel will require replacement and I figure gotta be a toyota of similar year can swap one from?

    Depends on the part.

The 3rd Gen 4Runner (1996-2002) shares the same drivetrain and some various electrical components and systems.

However other Toyota parts will work. I have a Lexus IS300 steering wheel and clockspring that fits on the Tacoma steering column.

Toyota kept the same splined steering shaft ever since the late 80’s. Theoretically, you could use a 2019 Tacoma steering wheel on a 1995 Tacoma.

HOWEVER, the airbag squibs and charges did change. We will have the single stage airbag charge which Toyota phased out in the early 2000’s. As long as you match the airbag plug to the clockspring it’ll work.

FYI, had the wheel off one of the 95s, so I took a few pics for you.
You can see the part number in the upper RH corner 45103-04020. This is with cruise. Edit: nut is 19mm.

Anyone hip to switching out this CC to a later 4 spoke w/o radio controls?

I'm getting to think the difference is in the column, not at these plugs.

I really thought since I had essentially 2 '99s (Taco is 2000 but wheel clearly says '99) I was plug and play. Air bags seem fine.
