i have been looking for a clean center console to complete a bucket seat swap for quite a while now (12 months) and am pretty much ready to give up on finding a double decker style.

I found that you can purchase one of the earlier styles (1995.5-2000) brand new for around $200.

My concern stems from the parts diagram pictures in which is looks like the mounting hardware is in different locations.

Has anyone completed an install of an earlier console in a 2001-2004 and did the allegedly different hardware positions pose any problems?

    Thanks
    Dan

If you can't find a Tacoma console I've seen people put in 4Runner ones (even though there's a spot for a parking brake lever).

I used a 4Runner console and relocated the E-brake to the center.

I'd love to see some pictures of your install. Both with the console and what you did at the factory parking brake location.

I think I'll probably end up with a new, old style console. Color match and factory look is pretty important to me.
