So, long story short, when my old Chevy got wrecked a while ago, I ended up getting a used Jeep Liberty. And... at this point I'm looking at cutting my losses (at least I paid cash!) and getting a 1st Gen or early 2nd Gen Tacoma to replace it.

Early 2nd gen (05 06) some of them have head gasket issues on the 4.0 but my buddy has an 05 about to hit 300k
