    Hey Guys,
I've got a 98 tacoma with ABS and i've been having the ABS light coming on intermittently after about 20-30 of highway driving. I checked the ABS code using the process outlined in the manual using the jumper and so on and it says there is a problem with the deceleration sensor.
So i go to check this mother out and i can't for the life of me find the damn thing. I'm really starting to hate the drawings of parts floating in space with nothing as a reference. So if someone could let me know where this sensor is that would be great.
    Thanks,

Oh yeah and anyone else have the problems with the deceleration sensor?

    Did you ever find it?

The decel sensor that's apparently under the dash somewhere?

Mines been doing that to but it only happens once in a while. I still haven't figured out why it happens only sometimes and not all the time.

Yeah i found it on a 98 tacoma it's in the same place as on a 2000 i looked at the parts location diagram for the 2000 model. From the manual that are stickies turns out the deceleration sensor is just above the pedals underneath the steering column.

I got lucky i pulled out the sensor tested it out to make sure it was giving the correct readings. I seemed like it was so i hooked it back up and i've been trouble free for the last 5000 miles. And through the winter i've used my ABS a couple time and it works just fine.

Mine came on only during longer drives didn't usually come on during city driving. All i did to fix mine was pull it out and test it then plug it back in and now it works. Hopefully, that'll work for you too.

    Thanks guys.

I downloaded the trouble shooting guides from the FSM for the sensors, actuator, and the decel sensor.

I'm going try each one until I find the 32 & 44 issue.

Looks like it's under the center bezel just to the right of the shifter, found a thread here about it.
