That is pretty good. I paid ~$320 to have mine rebuilt locally with all new Spicer U-joints a back in May. Not much more tho get an entirely new assembly.

Hey John, where's that post/thread you made about the diff vent/breather replacement? I can't seem to find it

    This one?

Funny thing is I replaced the breather valve, then purchased the the parts for the real axle seal and bearing and guess what?

Now the seal stopped leaking after replacing the breather valve, :)))

Thanks for the link! Crazy that cured your axle seal leak. I wonder how many other trucks would have benefited from the same thing? That's definitely a much easier fix!

I think I caught it early, the pressure buildup must have been pushing the seal out and then coming back in after the pressure was relieved through the seal till I replaced the breather.

Got luck, I have 250.00 worth of bearings, seals, gaskets and shoes I get to return to Toyota now, :))

So I just went to buy one of those diff vents and it had some coupon code come up for 25% off max $25 discount (PSAVE25) if you pay with a CC instead of PP. Pretty sweet.... So I added a set of headlight housings I had in my watched items and got 25% off those too!

The links on this for the differential and transfer case gear oil change how to, is not for the 1st generation models its for the 2nd generation.

Anyone know where I can find a good write up for the 1st generation differentials and transfer case gear oil change?

    Thanks

How have you determined it’s the motor and regulator that’s bad? Regulators rarely go bad. Motors do go bad commonly so that could be one thing.

However I wouldn’t rule out the master switch either. Remove the door panel. Roll down the window until the bolts for the regulator are accessible from the hole in the door, unbolt the regulator, remove regulator and motor.

I dont know for sure, so I'll definitely do that first.

I just assumed mainly due to the window going down perfectly fine, but when I try to roll it up it stops and I'll have to wait a few seconds then it'll go up a little more, I have to repeat this process about 5x before it finally closes. Also was thinking mainly due to the age of the truck itself that it might be due. I have an 02 Taco

That sounds like the motor to me. But take out the master switch and clean the contacts first.
