What's up taco world. So I've been searching for a while now on 1st gen doublecabs and there doesn't seem to be much info out there on storage, everything is about the 2nd gens. So I got to look inside a doublecab today, not sure what year, and I thought there was under the seat storage? Were all 01-04s the same in this regard? Is there any under the seat storage? Why is the rear floor so elevated should've looked but is the gas tank under the back seat? And I didn't go pulling up carpet or anything but is that really all the storage there is behind the seat? Ive seen on like the extra cabs that square box type thing that people have removed, is the big hump in doublecabs just sheet metal with a flat floor underneath? Could i rip that hump out or is it there for a purpose, if its just there for the seat to sit on, welding up new seat brackets and ripping that out would be no problem, I'm just wondering what's up with that. I've searched the internet a lot for the title of my thread and variations of wording with no results, like 2 pictures full of sub boxes behind the seat, everything else is 2nd gen stuff and I'm sure there are other people out there with this question so if y'all could help me out with these questions, pics would be awesome too.

The back rest folds down on the rear seat, there is no storage on the double cabs which sucks, I sacrificed some of my already short bed and put a bed box in

Well you can store some stuff behind the back seats. I have the jack kit, two rolls of paper towels, a bag of 15 maps, a mini Ca. Car Duster, a K+N air filter in its box, two umbrellas, a mini tool kit, a mini cooler filled with extra straws, napkins, condiment packets etc. and a first aid kit.
I also had a gallon of antifreeze and a quart of oil in there with the other stuff but took those out due to no need for them. So yeah, there is some storage of non-bulky stuff back there.

Same here. I store my tools back behind the seat. And a baseball bat etc... And no the gas tank is not under the back seat. It is facing from front to back not side to side.

Throw in a extra pair of jeans, shirt, socks and underwear behind the seat. You will thank me one day.

I have a OEM one that attaches to the mounting hooks.

I don't know the part number but it fit great in my 2001 Double Cab. I got rid of my truck so PM me if you are interested.

I took out my rear seats to increase my storage capacity. It was really easy just taking out a couple of bolts. I highly recommend it because I have so much more storage in the rear now!
