Now that I have my snazzy new KO2s I'm thinking of getting some fender skirts to replace the thin strips that were apparently stock on this model (correct me if I'm wrong). I think I've seen some basic black skirts that extend about 3 inches on other 1st Gen Tacomas, but I can't seem to find them online. Everything's 2nd or 3rd Gen. Can anybody give me a line on where I might find some 1st Gen skirts? Thanks.

Fender flares. My dad used to call them skirts. Yeah the Bushwhackers are too big. There are simple black flares that extend about 2 inches. I’ll try to find a photo. A lot of suppliers stopped making 1st gen aftermarket stuff because the market shrank with age. Just thought somebody might know a source that still has them.

Let us know if you find them, I was in the market for a new set too awhile back because mine are pretty beat up, but new ones are expensive and hard to find...and used ones in good condition are also difficult to find and generally pretty expensive

Please don't drill holes in those fenders. Your chrome molding looks like a dealer add-on? Or were those standard in your year? Mine had none.

I believe these were original. This was the SX model, which as I understand it was an early version of TRD, or at least top of the line. Came with factory locking diff. That’s the original paint btw. I agree no drilled holes, but there are existing small bolts holding that strip on.

Somebody was selling a used set in good condition in the for sale 1gen forum recently for a couple hundred, a lot cheaper than new.

Bushwacker flares come in a variety of widths iirc. 1", 1.5", 2". They may have changed their offerings in the past few years tho. I purchased a set of 2" for my truck. Mount into the existing inner fender holes. Easy install. Mine are wrapped to match but they came black.20200209_104135.jpg
