Latest UPDATE: Ok everyone. Bad News. After Easydoesit and his CNC friend spent quite a bit of time doing R&D on the seat risers, it's not going to work. A couple of factors led them to this decision but ultimatley it would have ended up costing close to $200 to have the proper mounts. Sorry for the bad news, but thank you to all who tried to support. Sad day in the 1st gen community. :) Peace

EDIT: To clarify, these spacers raise the front portion of the front seat. You don't lose headroom as it will recline and not raise the seat.

Hey all! So does anyone Love (hate) how the front seat is too low and doesn't support your leg while driving on 1st gens (or any generation at that)?

Well @EasyDoesIt made some front seat risers for the 2nd and 3rd gen and I asked him if he would do some for the 1st gens. The below quote is about cost.

""Hard to say until we work up the prototype, all depends on machine time and material cost. We are selling the 2nd/34d Gen risers for $100 a seat shipped. The 1st gens might be a little more because the left and right risers are not identical so there will need to be 2 different CNC processes.

The goal is to keep it at $100 per seat or as close as possible.

    Steve""

He needs to see if there is enough interest in them to warrant the R & D. Here's a link to the 2nd gens so you can see the excellent product.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/billet-7075-front-seat-riser-lifts-the-front-of-the-seat.607483/

Here are some pics from his product on the 2nd and 3rd gens. Nice Billet pieces!

If he can get at least 20+ people interested then he told me he would do it. So come on everyone let's do it! I'll do my best to update the list but I have a busy weekend so bear with.

And mods forgive me if I don't have this post in the right spot

Thanks for posting. The pics above are the prototypes for the 2nd/3rd Gen risers. Below are the final risers for 2nd/3rd Gens. Like Shiki Shabazz said, if there's enough interest my buddy over at Black Rock Machining will do the R&D for the Best Generation.

Any new hardware needed would match factory in grade/class and diameter. These would be CNC'd from Billet 7075 Aluminium.

@EasyDoesIt this one is for you

However I imagine they will be similar to the ones he had made for the other gens, about $100

Wait, you’re serious? I’d kill to lower the stock seat but raising it is just senile! I’m 5’9” so not that tall but I’d kill for more headroom not less.

Are your legs 2 foot long man? Lol b/c I'm 5'11" and half of my thigh doesn't touch the front of the seat making it uncomfortable to sit for long periods of time. And this is to raise the front of the seat, not the back. This will give more thigh support. And what do you need more headroom for? You jumpin your taco? Lol

To be fair when I went through Air Force pilot training they told me I could fly fighters since my sitting height was too tall. I sit like a 6’5” tall guy, all torso no legs lol

His fab basically "reclines" the seat which brings the seat bottom's front closer to driver's lower thighs right? Then you could re-adjust the recline position on the seat back to make up for this.
    Pretty ingenious:)
I'm 6'1" with a 32" inseam and my right knee starts killing me because it's at a side angle sort of over the console while it works the pedals.

Yeah, the last thing I’d want to do in my first gen is make the seat higher in any possible way. Headroom is at a premium both while getting into the seat and once you are belted in

This is the problem with swapping in seats from other makes. My BMW seats put me very "high in the saddle". But I love the six way power, leather, heat, and lumbar.

My main driver is my '16 RX350 with 18-way seats, heat, cooling, lumbar etc. Thank God for that one seat bottom adjuster for thigh support! Thing is, my '01 Tacoma Limited also has that adjuster but it's manually driven with a wheel on the seat side, and it is not a big help to my right knee. Facing facts, in the 1st-gen, Japan did not have us "big guys" in mind when designing these seats. They mainly had Asian 5-5ers that weighed 130lbs. in mind likely.

As long as you're making brackets and charging big $$$, maybe make them to mount additional seat rail frames for easier swaps.

If there's a market to justify the time and material costs, I'm I'll about it.

Is there a common economical seat swap that 1st gen guys are doing?

That's exactly it! Same knee pain here as the weight of my leg is "pressing" on my right knee as there is no center console like in full size trucks to rest your leg against.
