@Speedytech7 One other question, do you know which pin on the factory connector triggers the fuel pump?

You have a different ECU connector than I do 95-97, 98-2000, and 01-04 are all different... but I can tell you its label probably.

Should be FC on the ECU pinout for your truck. E7-18 would be my guess but I could be totally wrong if you have a California spec truck or something

I've been working on my rev limit, it's mildly spicy at a standstill but with load and boost now it turns into a Mac11 mag dump

During ignition cut it goes super low because it's not seeing the same amount of pulses as engine RPM. The haltech is reading RPM off of the crank sensor but the gauge gets its signal from the igniter which is having pulses cut to get the rev limit. The stock rev limit is fuel cut so normally this doesn't happen

I was just referring to the stock behavior of my old dash. The tach had a tendency to be pretty lazy.

    You were right, it's running!

Another question, is there a data sheet anywhere of the stock injector specs? Trying to find the voltage curve and dead times.

Hope this helps, I haven't tested it but it should be pretty close

    I think they're 240cc/min at 43.5psi

Does someone have a Haltech tune for the 5VZ they’d be willing to share? Since their software is free to download I should be able to poke around for the values I need, or at least give me a place to start.

There's a few posted in this thread. Not sure there's much of anything useful in the fuel maps for you especially since you'll be running batch fire and your version of throttle pump or transient will be different. Maybe there's something useful in the timing maps, I dunno. You're welcome to poke through this one, its nothing special, just a stripped down version of an old one of my tunes that I use for diagnosis and startup on new 5VZ builds. At least on a Haltech Elite, loading this tune and checking wiring allocations pretty much guarantees a fire up and idle to begin tuning. I don't think the dead times and injector data in that map will help though, that tune is configured for the more common Green 650 cc/min injectors.

Thanks! Also have you ever used a timing light on a Tacoma? With the stock ecu it appears to be all over the place (FSM says it should be 3-18 degrees) and I’m wondering if my crank position sensor needs replacement.

There's no way to lock the stock computer to 0 to check timing that I know of like the old toyotas. In the Haltech I turn on the timing lock feature and pick 5* and then use a timing light to match the balancer notch to the mark on the timing cover. Get a timing light that either works for wasted spark or 2 stroke since it'll have twice as many ignition pulses as necessary on the #1 coil.

Yes, but the FSM has a range it’s not staying in, and the timing light I had was in 2 stroke mode and screen matched the RPM’s correctly.

That range is only applicable on a fully warmed up engine (180 degrees or above) at proper idle (700rpm +/- 50) in neutral with AC and all accessories turned off
