It's less Tacoma and more mod
Helps the heat a ton but it's not super hearty if you get stuff on it. Like if you let mud set on it it will ruin it's integrity if you don't wash it off fast enough. If I redo this coating I'll get a glossy coat next since they repel better. Also I need to put my engine skirts back on. Wrap will cause most exhausts to either corrode or crack depending on if it's mild or stainless so cea is still the better option for longevity, I just touch mine up with some canned stuff every once in a while. Making a little shield would be the biggest help

I think my wideband O2 sensor is also on its way out. It's been just shy of a year but my guage has always struggled a little anyway so it's probably a combination of both. I have a new sensor but I'll install it when I have something else to read it, Until then I'll just consider the dying sensor a plug.

Good news, I have more time to work on projects

Bad news, I have less funds for said projects

Good news, the Haltech show must go on.

It's getting hot outside and the need for heat management is back. I was thankful for winter keeping my engine cooler and blasting the heater was helpful but
The truck is still driving awesome but the mercy of cooler air temperatures is almost over. A few weeks ago while on a steep grade the coolant jumped to 216°f and the transmission hit 210°f, it took a while for the temperatures to get below 200.

I still need to get my downpipe coated, It just didn't exist when everything else got done

I'm also going to need to find a way to install the Haltech and keep my passenger side air ducting.

What a hot day, 104 in St George. Intake was reading at 118 in the parking lot, it took a while to cool off before shutting it down. On the way home the coolant temp peaked at 231 on I-15 but at least the transmission stayed under 190.

Less than an hour later my brother called me while heading north on I-15 and said his jeep was having issues with the heat in the same spot I did.
Lots of blown tires on the road and several big rigs pulled over on the hills with the hoods up.

I probably over stress the engine temperatures but when I see it getting hot while under "regular operating conditions" this early in the summer it makes me uncomfortable thinking about July and August.

Yeah I would be concerned if you're getting over 210 regularly. There's probably something wrong with your cooling system or perhaps with your head gaskets. That's a lot of heat. I can absolutely hoon mine around on a 90° day, like that's actually the day with it we tuned my boost control. It was just pull after pull after pull and I never got over 205. And when I did it immediately came back down to 194 after a minute

Wow, that is really hot. Now I'm very curious about what mine will do in similar conditions. I have yet to see any coolant temps higher than 165°F.

Now intake air temps is a different story. With the 2.2" pulley I have seen 200°F on more than one occasion.

I haven't lost any coolant. My thought is possibly an air bubble in the system from when I did the water pump last year I never used one of those big bleeder funels in the radiator cap but I did leave it running on an incline for a while

At one point I actually considered making an outer shell of larger exhaust tube over the actual one and pulling a vacuum on it as an insulation experiment, but...too many bends, too much work as it was

Some vehicles come from the factory with double wall exhaust piping for insulation sake and to reduce nvh. I don't think you'd be able to pull a good enough vacuum on it anyway for it to be worth vacuuming it down. That sounds like some kind of crazy shit Koenigsegg might do haha. Be cool, but I'd only bother if it was like a nice stainless setup or something. Mild will develop a leak pretty quick from corrosion I'd think.

haha nope, just like keeping current on things :)

I am currently trying to get past emissions... damn po420! Tried to clear the codes and drive around enough for most the ecu emission checks to 'complete' but when I took it in last Friday the system was still in a Not Ready state that they failed it and told me to drive around more... so got some solutions coming this week to try out, otherwise might be welding up a test pipe from my stock exhaust and hopefully passing that way

Damn, what have you done to check for exhaust leaks? I know I still have at least one on the turbo side somewhere

I have stethoscope all my joints and haven't heard an major clicking but that is about it. I don't think its from exhaust leaks, but rather the high flow single cat system vs the stock double cat system from before. ODBII readings are just over the max values, so I am close but still through code that pops the CEL and will fail emissions test straight away.

I still think this might be worth a try. If your exhaust still has that little heat shield for the rear O2 sensor they might not notice with it being up on top so far away from the Cat:notsure:

I've had that P0420 for a while. Started with the DT headers. I tried adding new cats didn't work. Tried installing turbo manifolds, didn't work.

yea that is what I got coming this week, that and some resistors and capacitors :)

They already took the picture of my system (stupid change to emission here in SLC county), so if the extension works, I may be able to get away with that.

Has anyone installed an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator and noticed an improvement or more consistent fuel pressures over the stock unit?
I already have an upgraded fuel pump and larger injectors so this would be the last item to address on the fuel delivery system. Not that the stock FPR is showing any signs of malfunction or anything.

Recently did it on an RX7 and we added a Syltech pressure/temp sender too back to the Haltech. Just nice to know exactly what the FP is on a car that's extremely sensitive to change like that
