I contacted boomslang about the harness but wasn't sure exactly what it'll need for the transmission side of things (yeah I've probably been told 15 times but without seeing it to understand it I'll never remember).

You won't get trans control right away, they don't have the wiring for that or anything. You just want to use the haltech to control your engine and the stock ecu for the trans for the time being.

    Okay

Is there anything that might be worth specifying to them about the rest of the harness.

Sensors, lots of sensors. What should I be keeping, what should be replaced and what should be deleted.

I have AIT but is it good enough for the Haltech?

Does the OEM MAF stick around or should it be tossed

Pretty sure we'll need a MAP

My knock sensors are original so that'll need replaced.

You'll need a place in your IC charge piping before the TB but after the IC to put an IAT, I can get you a link to a good one when I'm out of work. The Haltech has a built in MAP sensor, so you're good there. OEM maf can go in the trash, it's just a restriction but you can use the wiring for the temp sensor in its loom. I'll give you more details as you get closer here

I left my MAF sensor inline after the IC. It has the temp sensor in it so you dont have to worry about finding a place for a new one, and if you need to revert to factory for emissions obviously you're going to need a MAF still. Don't think I deleted any sensors on mine, only added

That sensor is uselessly slow to respond, it's barely better than running no sensor.

I put that up for randos, I'm happy to cook you up something better and help you allocate things when the time comes. @unstpible Do you have emissions in your area, and is it plug in or visual if you do? We can come up with something to deal with that if you do.

Any closed element thermistor is going to be too slow to be effective in a boosted application. Super and turbos both heat up the air so quick that those sensors with their enclosures don't register a change before the heat has abated and they're prone to heat soaking themselves.

Open element one, like from AEM/GM has one that is commonly used/uh Haltech offers one, RIFE has some they claim are even faster than the traditional open element ones. Pretty much any one not entirely encased in plastic like typical 80s/90s era OEM ones are.

Not seeing an open element AEM one - the one I do see says a 15 sec response time to 63% of the new value and has a visible bulb like the factory MAF
The RIFE I'm not finding response data for comparison... it just says "ultra fast"
    I'll keep looking...

edit: think the site I was on flipped the AEM description and images between the two

Wait, this is my MAF's style. This is the same style as the ones you listed excluding the RIFE....(?) I'm confused.

Ooh that's interesting, you have a later style maf with a completely different thermistor than mine or the 4 banger one. Well that thing should register decent if you've got a good resistance curve for it
