Usually those are air horns and require some sort of compressor. It's possible but might be more expensive than you'd think.

My brother put one of those in his chevy and mounted an air compressor behind his back seat. Kicks ass lol. when some jackass pisses him off in traffic he waits till they're under an overpass and cuts loose with that thing...epic!

I have the hella supertones on my Honda, but they don't seem very trucklike to me. Cadillacs and the older, bigger bodied Buicks have throaty twin horns to be found for short money in junkyards. That "take-a-battery-with-you" idea is pretty smart to try before you buy

Does your Avalon horn have dual (2-tone) horns?

I had the cheap hella or wolo triple trumpets...
they sound loud enough for me...
tho' they always seem to fail over time...
and after the failure of the 2nd set...
I wasn't interested in round three.

So this time I picked up the Wolo "Bad Boy" air horn...
it's self contained, plug n play.
No separate compressor or air tank needed.

Tho' I still have to wait and see how long it might survive.
I like the simplicity of it and it's simple hook up (plug n play)

put another in the dd as well...
100% better then the oem beep, beep

I don't use my horn very often...
but if on occasion I do... it needs to be heard.

Oh btw... because this horn is fairly small
and self contained... It really is bad ass on a motorcycle
They even sell one in chrome... for the Harley boys ;)

I always thought my horn sounds like a taboo buzzer lol. And if you hold it, it gets distorted sounding

Speaking which, where IS the horn even located? I've looked for it and it seems to be somewhere under a splashguard in the passenger side fender, but couldnt pinpoint it. I do have a horn out of a 70's for pickup I might wire in to add on to my factory one. That might make it a little better.

You think it sounds pathetic now? Wait until you only have one! I had to remove one of the horns in mine for the Homer grill and I never got around to remounting it elsewhere. When I hit the horn now, it might as well say "Hit me, I'm a puss!"

I need to get the Superduty horn. Thats the ticket.

you guys kidding? are we talking about the dualtone GM style horn? mine to me sounds like the ones on the old 60s-70s GM cruisers like Buick and Olds. How is that wimpy-I think it's very American sounding myself-unless you guys got trucks with the very Japanese sounding "beepbeep"?

x2 actually, I don't think it's horrible stock, way better than my '86 corolla.

yeah my stepson's '10 Highlander, which is a substantial suv IMO, has the cutesy little "beepbeep" horn. Now that would qualify as a wimpy horn-loud or not. These guys must be just bored with this horn-looking for more ways to add toys which is cool:D

Who cares what the horn sounds, mine is plenty loud.

Maybe we are talking about a penis issue here.

Lol, actually, I'm assuming the OP posted it because he doesn't like his horn, and was wondering if anyone was in agreement. To which many concurred, and has promoted quite a few discussions on alternative horns that may be of interest. Typical forums stuff.

No penis issues here on TW as we all drive Tacomas. Penis size issues are usually reserved for Mustang forums and Dodge forums. However, if the discussion about horns and horn replacements make one angry, I would, no pun intended, 'blow' your horn elsewhere. :D
