1st gen icon coilover trouble

Alright so I bought these icon 2.5 resis for my 1st gen prerunner and spent about 6 hours trying to install one side with no luck. The pic has the shock the only way it would fit in the bucket but it does not look right and the resi won't even come close to fitting in the mounting bracket. Keep in mind this is the passenger side. When I rotate it to the next bolt hole the resi elbow is smashed against the coilover bucket. The instructions dont mention any cutting but the picture looks like the bucket was definitely cut. Anybody have any insight into installing these?

 

Alright I think I figured it out. I'm pretty sure my shocks came assembled with the hats placed in the wrong shocks. In the intructions pic it shows the drivers side with a bolt directly to the right of the of the opening in the shock hat. But on my shocks the bolt is directly to the left. Has this happened to anyone else? Anyone else think I'm right?
