    Good day,

I've been lurking around for quite some time looking for a 1st gen Taco for about a year. I wanted to get a price check on a 1st gen Taco I've just came across locally. It didn't seem the Buy/Sell/Trade forum was the correct, because I wasn't buying or selling.

I ran across a local place selling pretty much exactly what I want: 2004, 5speed, 4wd, XtraCab, SR5 and best of all about... 40k miles. Assuming no major issues (e.g. mechanical, rust, etc), what would be a reasonable price to offer?

    Much appreciated!!

If they're selling what are they asking? One could make offers all day long based on what book value "is" and get shot down all day long. It's a sellers market for these trucks or any Toyota truck for that matter.

A 2004 1st gen with only 40k miles? If it's otherwise clean (i.e. a one-owner "grandpa" truck) that'd be a gem. I'd think you'd be looking at closer to $20k for something that cherry. I've seen 1st gens with 100k miles go for $15k in Colorado.

I meant to include they were asking 20k. Seemed high, but perhaps it is just slightly above. I appreciate the responses folks.

I would expect to pay in the $17-20k range, seeing how they are asking $20k it would not surprise me that someone will pay that.

Is it a TRD, 4x4, Prerunner, Extended Cab?
I see those all the time on Craigslist. Always a scam.

The scammers don't know there is no such thing as a Prerunner 4x4.

    OME and worth every penny.
Actually, a person will be replacing just as much stuff right off the bat as a higher mile (within reason) vehicle. I can't imagine any rubber part to last much longer. That includes brake rubber and especially fuel lines.
I bought a 20 yr. old Sienna with low miles. A few days later a wheel cylinder blew out. I also don't think it was too good for bearings to sit so long with out rolling either.
And you know that every time that truck started after sitting long periods, the crank and cams were almost certainly dry as bones unless it was properly primed before starting like a stored vehicle should be.

it also really depends on location. typically near the west coast that truck would be 17-20k.

but regardless it is very very rare now.
